Old enough for Chip Kelly, Dan Mullen, Mark Helfrich to be coordinators still.

Wow, that's old. But the top of the screen has today's date and a running clock on it, so it must be up to day info, right? Yikes.

Hopefully JP doesn't use this site to hire our next coach or he'll make himself look really stupid when he calls Chip Kelly to offer him the ISU job.

Here's a name who hasn't been thrown out. Tommy Tubberville (I know it won't happen, just looking for thoughts)

Jim Harbaugh! :jimlad:

Craig Bohl is the name I'd go with that's most likely to have success here. IMO we aren't going to get a proven home run hire. We will have to take a RISK to get the guy we need. Yes guys that's right, a RISK.

More money needs to be spent on consult firms or simply football consultants throughout the process. One of CPR's biggest downfalls outside of player development was probably leadership decisions. Placing the right assistants around you.

Yup. The current AD is a good manager and marketer. The history of Iowa State overall is the administration and boosters do not "get" football. Not surprising since there aren't a string of highly successful ex players and coaches who can help the administration match the unique culture with candidates. I liked Chizik, but he was the wrong guy for us. I liked Rhoads, now his deficiencies are glaring. Need some football guys with ISU ties (Sage, John Cooper, Bruns) and a couple outsiders to advise Jamie on the next move. Even if we retain Mangino as the new head guy, the program needs to go through a thorough evaluation from top to bottom so that the Pres and AD have an informed frame of reference for their decision making. Can't just go on a hunch this time.

Terry Bowden is another name that should be thrown out there, he's been at Akron for a few years now, hasn't had huge success but has taken them from winless to a .500 team in 3 years and has as much experience/success as anyone else out there.

While I appreciate everyone's wishful dream list CPR isn't going anywhere. JP signed a deal with the devil and we are stuck with him for at least the next 3-4 years. We don't have the money or the boosters to buy out the contract.
False,.....why do people keep repeating this hogwash

Ed O is an intriguing choice, think he can recruit but failed at Ole Miss, need to see who the big boys fire and maybe find someone who got fired because of unrealistic expectations, let's face it if you can average 6 wins here you will have a great job security

Only worry with Bohl would be recruiting...we HAVE to hire a good recruiter to even finish with 5-6 wins every year

Orgeron reminds me a lot of David Cutcliffe, the guy who has turned Duke from doormat to division champ. He would be a great hire but I think its a longshot he would come to Ames. This guy has recruited everywhere that worth recruiting and would be a very flashy hire.

Plus we can just take his USC clothes to a screen printer/embroiderer and change the logos!

Bobby Elliot. He's coached here before, and he knows what it would take to win here.

I am not flaming here.... Didn't Ed Orgeron cheat his *** off- or at least do borderline unethical things at Mississippi? But, don't the saying go- if your not cheating, your not trying?
