I have noticed some app crashes and minor bugs. If you are expecting a solid OS out of the gate.....wait. If this is your mess around machine, have at it.

Did you encounter the same issue doing a clean install that Bos did? A license key request?

Yes, I choose to skip that, and it only appeared once. After logging into windows I haven't seen a problem with a license key.

agreed ..... i'll wait for my production machine for major updates (SP1) or within 12 months from now.

Agree. I feel that it still takes longer than expected/hoped for to boot. Faster than 7...but not lightning quick!

Thanks for your feedback. What are the benefits of a clean install? I have a Surface Pro3 with 8.1; not sure of the advantages for a clean install.

Typically, OS's just run better from scratch. Upgrades tend to leave behind remnants of old code from apps and the previous OS that can cause issues down the line. I tend to do this with my mobile devices as well. They just run better. For your surface, honestly Id just wait a few months before upgrading unless you are ok with being an early adopter.

Absolutely. Isnt that basically what it appeared he was going to go after? A way to resurrect her possibly.

I mean as i recall the last game centered around a device called the composer which was supposed to turn people into digital beings (so they couldnt be turned flood) and then could be turned back. That second part is key for Cortana. My bet is when we see her she's in physical form.

SSD and bios changes are the big thing for a fast boot. I just tested and it takes 16 seconds from the time I push the power button until I get to the home screen. I could probably shave a few seconds off that but then I have problems with not being able to enter bios in time.

With that said, my chromebook launches in about 5 seconds.

You're gonna die before there is a SP1 just so you know. Those are gone forever now.

well, whatever the equivalent is... geesh.

There is no equivalent, it's a totally different way of Windows now. It's all incremental updates and patches. This is the last Windows ever to be made.

But if you're skeptical, I would wait a month. That is when the rush of the users is expected to stabilize.

I can't believe I'm going to have to perform every single system update on my computer with W8.1 just to get W10. For whatever reason, that computer locks me off the internet whenever there are system updates that need to be performed. Which means I have no option but to perform them. Really can't wait to be done with 8.1.
