Your pretty naive aren't you. Microsoft has still been sending out XP updates since they realized lots of business' still use the software. If your not a moron, run a good anti-virus and maleware program its fine.

Hey argent...maleware is the gay pron site you have bookmarked as something else so your wife doesn't find jt. MALWARE is a virus you were trying to talk about.

I have been having issues getting the "Get Windows 10 App" to appear on my laptop. Everything I have read shows that I meet the requirements and I have updated all of the necessary packages. I am hoping that the app will appear now since it is launch day.

Does anyone know that with the free upgrade to W10 (for me: laptop W7 to W10, production W8.1 to W10), if you core the machine do you need to install the previous OS to W10 before switching to W10? In the past OS upgrades MS made you do this.... but I am thinking with this "new to MS" rollout of a new OS it may be different.

At first the notification (about a month ago) said my BIOS wasn't supported? Then a week later the notification told me I was all set to go and just had to wait until July 29th. Not sure what changed...but as of this post I still haven't seen anything on my notebook that says 10 is downloading or ready to be installed. The 10 notification indicator is still there though.

I have the Windows 10 notification that was sent out a month ago on my laptop...what is the next step? Just sit and wait? I have my laptop on this morning but haven't seen anything about updating yet.

Yep...from what I read, there's a queue for it to download and install. When it downloads, it'll ask you to schedule the install, I believe.

You mean the e-card things, right? From that one website?

... We might not be on the same wavelength, here.

I thought you just got done saying you didn't take unnecessary risks and made common-sense decisions in your computing decisions - but you still use "e-cards from that one site"? I'm willing to bet your computer has more hidden viruses that you don't know about than the typical Hok fan has STDs. In fact, I cringe at what my computer might be exposed to just being logged onto CF at the same time you are (I semi-jest)...

The problem I have is that I don't have any notification. I am using Windows 8.1 and have all the necessary updates, but don't have the icon in the lower right side of my screen like they say it should.
However, it sounds like this link is promising as it bypasses Microsofts download app that is supposed to appear.

Change in recommendation: I just clicked on that little notification bar icon for windows 10, and it says mine is ready for upgrade...can't do it now, so I'll wait, but if I hadn't clicked on it, I wouldn't have known...I didn't get any notification or anything. Maybe click on your icon, it might be ready.
