My install took less than 15 minutes
Aww, man, don't tell me that, now I'm wondering if I should chance it with having to leave in a little over an hour. Ho, well, I'll do a backup, see how long that takes.
My install took less than 15 minutes
The problem I have is that I don't have any notification. I am using Windows 8.1 and have all the necessary updates, but don't have the icon in the lower right side of my screen like they say it should.
However, it sounds like this link is promising as it bypasses Microsofts download app that is supposed to appear.

The upgrade keeps all your data and apps intact right? I'm going to do a backup regardless before I do my upgrade
I decided to use this link...and it worked flawlessly! Still looking around getting used to it but the download and install took over an hour. The download was pretty quick...but the install took awhile. I went from 7 to 10. Looks cool so far (but I refuse to allow myself to ever think it is better than Linux Mint no matter how good it really is!!!)!
Did you do a clean sweep of your system or just upgrade? I am thinking about doing a clean sweep but am worried about losing my Office 2013 applications.
Change in recommendation: I just clicked on that little notification bar icon for windows 10, and it says mine is ready for upgrade...can't do it now, so I'll wait, but if I hadn't clicked on it, I wouldn't have known...I didn't get any notification or anything. Maybe click on your icon, it might be ready.
Same here. I used this to upgrade this morning. Took about an hour on a fairly old machine. Right now everything seems to be working okay but a little slower than before. I'll give it some time to 'break in' though.
Oh, Malwarebytes Anti-exploit doesn't seem to work.
EDIT: And just noticed my Homegroup isn't working
Fresh install will ask you for a license key, however, there is a link to skip it. I had to skip it twice during the whole installation process. When it finally all came up to the desktop, it reads as activated. Supposedly MS sees that you have already qualified for Win10 on this machine and will automatically activate it once its installed. How they know its the same pc? I dont know, I assume its a serial number recognition...

So can you use the product key that is on your machine already (assuming there is one...my notebook has one for 7). Just curious as so far mine is running well. Still itching to turn on my Linux Mint machine as I am getting bored with 10...not a criticism...just love Mint.
Did you have any office programs before your fresh install? Also where they there after the install?
first impressions after Win7 upgrade the reset install (clean install):
- MUCH faster than Win7.
- It still had my browsing history; started typing URL and edge filled out the remaining in the address bar. So it keeps some things Bos.
- Edge needs work. I am not able to right click on the taskbar icon and choose new window. The application needing IE, runs in full screen mode so options/settings are clickable/accessible.
- Also can not add another search engine in the settings of Edge... its default is Bing.. ick
- Multi-display was easy to setup.
- Did I mention fast.
- Chrome is really slick on this.
