Or dismisses their leading scorer who was also 2nd in Big 10 in scoring about a week before Iowa plays them (Clary at Penn State).

    *** Official #20 BYU vs #6 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

I think a subtle defensive adjustment ISU made was to start picking them up full court at about the 2nd media TO of the 2nd half- it didn’t generate any TO’s but their guards had to work to get it up the floor, it took time off the shot clock, and it disrupted their offensive flow and ability to...

The difference being TD coached in a loaded Big 10 in its prime as a league. Fran coaches in a junior high league.

Phil Martelli- longtime head coach at St. Joes in Philly- coached their really good team with Jameer Nelson and Dalonte West. Juwan brought him on as an assistant to have a guy with college head coaching experience on the bench. His son Jimmy is on the new staff at Penn State.

I agree- Fran has been the gift that keeps on giving for almost 14 years now BUT…if this truly is the end, might as well have it be a huge train wreck for entertainment purposes!

I agree- Fran has been the gift that has kept on giving for almost 14 years now BUT…if this truly is the end, might as well make as bad of a train wreck as possible for our entertainment!

Wisconsin in 2014 was the moment I knew it would never happen under Fran at Iowa- never win anything meaningful. They were rolling that night and were up 8 or 9 IIRC when he bumped the official to get tossed. He went absolutely ballistic in a game they were in control and awoke the Kohl Center...

    ***2023-24 College Football Thread***

Their defense is definitely not great- it’s well built to defend the crap offenses they face in that division but nobody in the West has an elite D- they are all just very fortunate to get to face bad offenses every week- and as much as anything, I’ve never seen a league with less big play...

    ***2023-24 College Football Thread***

Iowa fans love to babble about the genius that Phil Parker is and they’re correct- he’s never taken another job in a league where he’d actually have to recruit against and game plan for real offenses. It is absolutely amazing how much of a turd the Big 10 West is.

TD would have Francis in his back pocket. Yes- much of his early success was with Georgie’s guys but TD still had to coach them to an Elite 8 and Sweet 16- plenty of coaches have screwed up talented groups. And, he had the insight to move Gamble at 6’6” from the 4 to the 2 where he had a great...

    F*CK IOWA

Yes! They are known around the league for this. It is absolutely dumbfounding how many critical false starts are called on opponents in Kinnick- of course, their fans will take credit for “doing their part” making all that noise.

Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

Several facts: -The Murray’s were 6’5” and 6’4” when they graduated from Prairie- when they arrived in IC roughly 14 months later they had grown about 4 inches- Fran had nothing to do with that but it did enhance their development/draft status -Give Fran credit for player development if you...

I believe so- he redshirted one of his four college years, so has one left for that, plus a COVID year. What else is he going to do?

Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

I would argue that he coached that “loaded” roster to a 30-5 Elite 8- many coaches have screwed up talent like that. Did he recruit them? No. Did he have the ability to recognize Lohaus wasn’t a back to the basket post and move him outside where he could use his perimeter shooting skills...

He didn’t take any time away from bb in high school- the treatment was in his 8th grade year and he played varsity all 4 years at West. He also was “redshirted” before kindergarten and turned 23 this past March- he’s a year older than most kids his grade- should have graduated HS in 2018. He...

An OVER RESPECTED weak Big 10- far too much credit given to that league for its weak March performances in recent years. Blows me away every February when all the bracketologists are listing 8-10 teams making the tournament. It’s not 1989 anymore.

    Lipsey and Williams, next year

Some guys just have “it” and Lipsey is in that group- he will improve enough to be a threat to make 2 a game which is the key- as long as the scouting report says he’s a threat and you can’t play 8’ off of him like this year it will stretch the defense and help the spacing. He’ll improve...

Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

It w It was posted as a subtle jab at the Iowa fans who have come to the realization, after 13 years, that Fran, like Alford and Lick, is not the guy to take them to the "next level" which was the phrase used when they got rid of TD, who could get them out of the first weekend. Many were...
