Pierre didn’t have anything to do with the apathetic basketball fanbase. It’s having an average basketball team that’s not fun to watch and no changes being made. Fran hasn’t made a single change since he’s been there.
Maybe not, but here are the figures: 2002- 15,207. 2003-13,275 By 2008- 10,000.

The whole 2 hours from Des Moines excuse is my favorite. The Eastern third of the state is much more densely populated than the other two thirds plus you have CR and the quad cities to pull from.
I hate it because (besides being hok land) I consider eastern Iowa still Iowa, but a little less Iowa in subtle ways than Central and Western Iowa, but your statement is very true. If you look at a satellite image of city/town lights at night in Iowa, the contrast in population is especially glaring. DSM hardly makes up for that distribution discrepancy with relation to attendance, especially when DSM is increasingly ISU territory as time goes on as it should be.

The "reconfiguration" (pushing the ends back) has cost Hilton a little over 100 seats.

Since this is Iowa could they just offer free 1/2 gallon sodas and a bunch of donets?

The late Matt Blair used to check ID's at the door.
Tony Yelk for quite a while was the door man at Paddy's. Good dude.

Well the 2007-8 and 2008-9 seasons under Lick they went 11-25 in the Big 10. I’m sure the Pierce and Alford combo hurt some, but I think terrible Lickliter years probably were most responsible.

Are 8,000 fans big donors trying to keep cars from him? There were probably 4k fans at their last home game.
To say their fans don't care about the bball program that has more history then the football program is absurd. Iowa basketball could turn around very quickly with the right coach.

Also, big donors have more say then the common man in the stands.

One of them pulled the water fountain off the wall at the now imploded Storms Hall. Apparently deemed the water pressure inadequate. We had the football dining room in the Knapp/ Storms dining hall too.
The best way we were told if you were in the right towers for the football team was that you had to step two inches down to get in the elevator.

Most hok fans I talked with said pierre was the biggest reason.

At one point, at one of our house meetings, someone asked if anyone had not been hit on by Larry Crawford, a pretty decent defensive back who seemed to be a harmless flirt as far as I could tell. One shy woman raised her hand and we did an experiment. I think they had to be in the study room in the commons a certain amount of time, and we sent her there when we were pretty sure he would be there. Took about five minutes before we were at 100 percent.

Now this is why I come to CF. Love me a good story. :)
