After watching the game last night the Raiders could move to Mexico City and have some success.

Anyone disappointed the Raiders players didn't have visa issues? The old 70's team would've had at least a few guys barred from leaving the country

I'm surprised they don't want to stick it out in the East Bay.

That *region* as a whole has practically unlimited money. Plenty to support two teams. Santa Clara is more San Jose than San Francisco, too, for that matter.

They would be closer to the heart of it all near I-880 in Alameda County.

Just when housing prices/rents are starting to push even the super rich off into the East Bay and that place is going to gentrify hard... then they leave.

Las Vegas has lots of glitz but it's small and its "town" population isn't particularly wealthy. Lot of military people, actually, pretty conservative place outside of the dens.

It would be odd to see an NFL team whose business model was being a destination city for opposing fan bases to come see their team play the Raiders, stay a few days to enjoy the city in the typical fashion, and then go home, drawing what they could locally.

Not exactly like the Bills or Lambeau, say, there. Not sure how well it would work.

I think, since they are moving to the desert, they should tweak their name to reflect that. How about the Las Vegas Tusken Raiders. Of course that will mean getting approval from Disney. But it happened with the Anaheim Ducks, so it could be a real possibility.

I believe Disney owned the Ducks

yep. Selling tickets won't be a problem. But, attendance is such a tiny part of the NFL revenue stream, that it doesn't really matter if they can't sell tickets. It's all about the new stadium, sponsorship, and those personal seat licenses. That's where the money's at.

They will sell suites without a problem. Casino's are basically forced to buy one. Have to have one for their "big shooter" gamblers for that weekend.

It doesn't matter, even if they do.

I agree it won't, but I look at the local Raiders fans that I know. It's not going to matter if they move they're still going to be fans. The Raiders are a brand and they could move anywhere and still have their following.

agreed. For example, there is still a sizable group of Raider fans in LA, and I guess Las Vegas is actually closer to LA than Oakland is. I'm guessing they don't give a crap about the move.

So will they play in UNLV's stadium then until they build a new stadium?

EDIT: Sounds like they will wait it out in Oakland until the new stadium is built.
Davis has said that, even if the Raiders are approved for relocation, he plans on playing in Oakland the next few years while a Las Vegas stadium is built.
