Name all the good head coaches we have had in 35 years.

Rhoads was brought in to change things from where they had been for the last 35 years. He has not done that. It looked like he may be heading in right direction-- but all that progress has crashed and burned, and we are now back to step 0. Right about back to the position where we have been for much of the last 35 years. This, six years into Rhoads' tenure.

Time to move on. And try once again to bring in someone who can lead us out of where we have been for the last 35 years.

Only takes 1. Ask Hayden Fry, Bill Snyder, Jerry Kill. And if the guy is successful and leaves, still a more desirable job than where we are today. Also no other coach in our HISTORY has had the tools and facilities at their disposal like they do today.

Exactly. Iowa had 20 consecutive losing seasons before Fry. They finally found their man. The Big 10 of the late 70's early 80's had two power house teams. Yet they were in the Rose Bowl pretty quickly. Using the same logic as some of the posters above, they could have said if Bob Commings can't do it here, who can? (If you're under 50, Google Bob Commings.)

Hahahaahhaha that's hilarious. Just because he slaughtered your hawks doesn't mean he's a great coach.
I think Sec. 110 kinda nailed it yesterday. I will get slammed for saying this by everyone that thinks you are a football genius, but for being a former player you have shown to be pretty clueless with reality. Jerry Kill has done wonders to that Minnesota football program. He has built that program way up from it being in college football gutter when he took over. They just came off a 8 win season last year and here he is so far this year at 7-2. They were lucky to win 1 game when he took over, much like where we currently are with Rhoads.

Sorry I am not a believer in Jerry Kill. I will admit he has had some success at Minn., but I also realize it is in the Big Ten. If he can sustain the success he is having I will change my tune, but i feel it is to early to lump him in with Hayden Fry and Bill Snyder.

Kidding right? Kill is one of the biggest up and comers in college football! Took the Goofs from where we are today to a winner. They would run for 800 yards against us.

I actually stuck up for you on that post by Section 110, but then you throw crap against the wall that never sticks.

Think of the logic, and I'm not even making a case for Rhoads. Iowa had been great a mere 20 years before Harden, and they gave him everything.

Bill Snyder is simply amazing. Maybe the best coach ever, act 2 has made him seem mythic.

The rest was typical nonsense from his kind. They don't realize the actual commitment to football a school has to undertake to be competitive. These folks think a "winning" attitude will make up for all the deficiencies.

Never mind money, facilities, location, and of course tradition, let's just fire the coach every 4 years when he loses. Maybe we will get lucky and go to a bowl once in awhile, then if the guy is worth a ****, he'll build up for one year, win 6-7 games, get the next job leaving nothing behind.

Until all these coaching gurus are ready to show the will to commit to football at Iowa State, and actually do what's necessary, it doesn't matter who holds the whistle.

Plus when you are a guy who will have choices, why the **** would you go to Iowa State? As tough a job as there is in the country, a lot of good coaches have been buried here.

I said when Kill has sustained success like Fry and Snyder I will change my tune, but I feel it's to early to for that yet.

What crap am I throwing against the wall?

I am pretty sure you were the one in week 2 or 3 throwing out that CPR has already lost this team. I would call you the one who throws random crap against the wall that never sticks.

You know I promised myself I would not engage you because it's not a fair fight, and I feel sorry for you.

But your reading comprehension obviously matches your knowledge of football.

I'm not saying that Kill is a horrible coach, but I'm not going out on a limb and saying he's the next Snyder. The only great team they have played all year was TCU and they hammered them. They have played Eastern Illinois, Middle Tennessee, San Jose St., Michigan, NWestern, Purdue, Illinois (lost), and Iowa. We'll see how they handle some ranked teams week in and week out in OSU, NU and WI. I think we can agree that ISU schedule has been much tougher than Minnesota's.

I will also say this, as far as a person, I think Kill is very much like CPR. Players really seem to like him.

the gophers will be playing the first Top 25 team this year when they play Ohio State. Gophers lost to Illinois.

What scares me is if Paul Rhoads can't win at ISU, who can? Surely anyone else who has any ounce of success will leave as soon as they can for a better job.

Weird to think after the 2011 season, people here were worried Rhoads would get plucked to a larger program. Things change with the wind in college football.

Very true. I still keep him, but I would have announced it the day after the KU game. With some certain changes coming. Make a splash. Anyway thing are going to be interesting here for sure.

You don't have to lump him with Snyder and Fry to realize he is a good coach.

Who cares. He still has built that program up. I doubt that 1-11 Minnesota team a few years ago tears through that schedule. It's not like the Big 10 was any good when Kill took over.
