There's no comparison between Niang's supporting cast and Uthoff's. Jok = Thomas and that's about it. Advantage ISU across the board. Saying Niang is better than Uthoff is like saying Emmitt Smith was better than Barry Sanders.

All of this is really just semantics and bluster until the only test that matters is either passed or failed. Uthoff is welcome to title of best player in the state if he and his teammates are sitting at home watching the runner-up advance through March. What a pointless debate.

So ISU is better than Iowa?

What is your point here. The quality of team has nothing to do with the quality of player.

no, it's nothing like that comparison.

George Niang - The 6-foot-8 senior averaged 15.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists last season. He enters his final season as the only active player nationally with at least 1,500 points, 450 rebounds and 300 assists for his career.

Uthoff just broke the 1000 point barrier tonight on 1/21/2016 @ Rutgers NUFF SAID

Lots of stat talk going on. You seriously don't think the fact that Uthoff bears much, much more of the burden to carry Iowa both offensively and defensively matters? Opposing teams gameplan around stopping Uthoff and that's about it. Niang has the luxury of Monte, McKay, Nader, et al to share that burden. Uthoff and Niang are essentially equal in terms of the numbers. But Uthoff is earning those stats as the only real go-to guy for Iowa with the other teams focused almost entirely on stopping him and him alone. Niang doesn't have to worry about that.

I suppose if you lined up 15 GM's from the NBA and asked if they had to chose between the two (right now) as the last two guys they could pick from to draft, more would choose Uthoff. Think he can get his shot off over people more so than Georges, and get blocks. Although Georges is a good passer and pretty crafty around the basket, not sure how it will translate to the league. But, who cares, wouldn't want to trade them. Niang is right up at the top as one of the greatest Cyclones and has been for four years.

If Niang had to he could score a more points in a game. Him having better players around him probably brings his point total down.

Sure. If he were to draw twice the defensive attention of the opposing team as he's currently getting, of course he would score more points per game. Makes perfect sense.

You have to remember Uthoff's are half that in the 2nd half.

IDK Thomas seemed to shut Uthoff down.

BDJ is in the NBA now. Who will be better at the next level has nothing to do with who is a college player.

I love Matt but if he can completely shut you down for a half and you're 5 inches taller than him you're probably not as good as an All American

ISU knew that all they needed to do was shut Uthoff down, so that's what they focused everything on in the 2nd half. If Iowa went all in on shutting Niang down, they'd get killed by Monte, McKay, Nader, etc. If Niang had Uthoff's supporting cast his stats would be worse, if Uthoff had ISU's supporting cast, his stats would be better. The fact that as it stands their stats are basically even tells the story.
