People defending the refs here have obviously never played sports and don't realize how blown calls can affect the dynamics of the game. Yeah isu should try to rise above it but it makes the game more difficult. That difficulty is on refs. Not our team.
No, we just realize that bad calls happen and you have to overcome them. They happen against the teams that ISU beats and they happen against ISU when ISU wins. Every team gets hosed by some bad calls in every game. It's just a loser mentality to think that the conference or the refs give a crap enough about ISU to have it in for them. It's absurd.

No surprise a kansas fan has no issue with the refs.

Says the guy whose team has benefited from corrupt refs more than any team in the history of college basketball.

Oh, I do have issues with the refs. I wish they were overall better at their job. I just don't think they are prejudice for or against any specific teams. In general, the bigger, more physical teams are going to appear to "get more calls" because fans of more finesse teams see their guys getting knocked to the ground and assume that this can only happen as a result of being fouled. That simply isn't the case. You can't penalize players for simply being bigger and stronger.

Fans freak out when their players get knocked over. If all contact was called exactly by the rule book definition then the game would have 75 fouls and 100 free throws and be completely unwatchable. The more aggressive players will get the calls and the wins. It is the way the sport works.

I would actually say that you haven’t played sports, and neither has most of the board. Blaming the officials for every loss is the exact thing that non athletes do. Picking one play that you think the officials got wrong is the exact thing people who haven’t played sports do. You and others keep bringing up one or two plays where the officials weren’t on our side. Guess what, kstate can point to a few of those too. If you’re an athlete and a competitor, you don’t leave it In the hands of the officials. If you sit and ***** at your tv over every call you perceive as unfair, well, you obviously never played sports

Blaming the officials is what non-athletes do.

Please elaborate.

Sorry, I gotta agree with this in a sense. Prohm’s teams have lacked end-of-game strategy and I’m struggling with how our seniors disappear in big moments. They should be more prominent in their role and be getting better...who’s job is that?

I’m not a coach and can’t do it better but I”m pretty disappointed in how we perform in clutch situations. To me, that’s a coaching issue.

Ya that is dumb I played fairly high levels of soccer and basketball and I’ve hated punk ass refs since I was probably 11 years old. It takes a special kind of ego to be a ref and it’s not an ego that I want to party with.

How bout when Svi mykhailiuk took 5 steps on a game winning layup? Did KSU have that go against them because they are finesse.

Biased and absolutely awful officiating. I hate the Big 12.

The refs were not Shooting Free Throws at the end it was Lindell Wigginton and Barry Brown and we all saw how that worked out....These Refs were Incompetent and must be partially blind to overturn the call towards the end of the game, but they did not lose the game.......Our inability to make a couple of free throws at the end COST US THE GAME...Not those Incompetent Refs....

When was the last time that KU got screwed at home by the refs...KU never has and never will.
Look the referees did not decide this game, when they let rough play go and dont call fouls, any finesse team is going to have a tough time winning......Lack of rebounding, Lack of focus in the first half and Missing foul shots at the end cost us this game......Not the officiating......

Refs didn't lose the game for ISU but they were TRASH. Absolute garbage officiating, completely unacceptable at this level.

ISU's offense was just as bad, and the defense on that final possession was embarrassing.

This team isn't anywhere near as good as people thought they were after the KU game. They continue to generally play solid defense, but the offense is entirely reliant on whether or not the 3 ball is falling, cause they sure as hell can't get anything else. None of our many guards can take it to the rim, which really sucks.

That said, they also aren't as bad as they've played. It's probably gonna be an up and down year. When the long ball is falling, look out. If Wigginton can figure out how to drive to the rim without falling over, look out. Otherwise, they can very easily be beat by anyone in the conference.

The thing that irritates me is the inconsistency, especially game to game. Don't call freedom of movement fouls for one game (or one half), and then go no holds barred the next game (or half). We've had games where yesterday's action would have generated 30+ free throws.
