By the numbers - not winning in the margins

Why is the offensive line still a massive question mark?

Go listen to the latest Football and Random Things" podcast with Jared and Jay Jordan. Jay states the offensive line completely changing how they are blocking now that they don't have Dylan Soehner anymore.

What I don't understand is how one player now requires the entire offensive line to change how it blocks. Once I heard those comments from Jay my outlook on the season went down.

I'm just having fun with this post for a bit. I thought of another parallel between the two programs. We're definitely winning it all baby! Still love you @AlaCyclone, you always keep your head up and chest out for us, and that's what we need right now.

I am not kidding, "Sweet Home Alabama" just came on my Direct TV Classic Rock station, as I was reading your reply! When they do that during pre-game, it is AWESOME!

It does seem ... odd. But I'm far from an expert about OL blocking, so I wouldn't be the go-to or have room to criticize.

That's just Jay's opinion and one of the few I don't completely agree with. It's being over blown. He didn't have first hand information from the staff as to the exact reason for them using more gap scheme. Guarantee it's not solely because of Soehner.

Did Soehner play even half the snaps last year?
It’s wishful thinking. We struggled with and without him. It’s an averagely talented offense with some flaws at OC. It’s no wonder we struggle at times

The Kolar fumble.

Eh, if the guy doesn't try ripping off Kolars head via facemask, no way does Kolar drop that ball. He also likely gets out of bounds with ~19ish seconds on the clock. Plenty of time for the offense to make up those 15 yards we got via penalty. Again, a gift from Baylor, but I'm not going to call it game changing.

No doubt. But Breece wasn’t finding the gaps in the UNI and Iowa games. So I’m hoping it continues.

As Blum said on the podcast, Breece looked like an early round NFL draft pick against Baylor. He had 190 rushing + 50 receiving and was very close to a whole lot more. The one tough catch he didn't make (texas route) alone could have been another 30 and a TD.

It was ruled a fumble and recovery by Baylor. It literally took a turn over off the board. There was also a huge 3rd down they gave use a freeby on. The penalties were huge.

Fresh wound. 100% he's pissed at himself, not really the question.

That's fine......but sitting there telling everyone the only way ISU wins at football is within the margins, then fluttering your eyes at every question like some uppity Valley girl doesn't scream under control. I have never been than critical of CMC because he has done one H of a job. They lost a game........fine. Lived with more of those than I care to recall. Not likely reaching goals.....won't be the first one. But this conference just oozed amatuer hour and I was bit taken aback not expecting something like this from him regardless of how upset he is at himself.

Jay's opinion that the offensive line is using a different blocking style, or that it's purely from Soehner departing?

He's a human like everyone else. Just sitting there after a loss getting questions that are stupid from hacks that don't coach. Can't be easy.
