Well I'm fairly confident I'm right but I'm not sure it really matters. I have no love loss for JP so if we want to place this hire on him then I'm good with that.

I'm sure there are still people on here that think Travis Hines just made up the story of the rift between Pollard and Hoiberg. Whatever makes them feel better. I did notice how JP fleeced the season ticket holder a few years ago to the tune of 7 million dollars. Average of $2,000 upgrade and 3.5k season ticket holders. Of course he took that money and then hired Steve Prohm for over a million less then he was paying Fred.

WHY you dumassss? So he could POCKET it? Give himself a big raise??? WHY would you be angry at an AD who is looking after all the sports as well as his budget?

Just so I'm clear on this. He has managed to guide a pre-season Top 25 squad to a 9-11 seed range in the tournament and that is your evidence of success.

He might be successful long-term but I'm not sure how you can defend this season as being a success at this point.

You should never buy green bananas or use a slow cooker. I fear you lack the mental stamina to wait long enough.

Most people just want to win. Lots of people from both sides that like to pound their chest...see the thread after the Kansas game annointng him as a great coach.

IMO I think he is a very average coach that perhaps looks worse due to the other coaches in the league. I don't see many matchups in the Big 12 where I think we have a coaching advantage...maybe Chris Beard or Bruce Webber.

But your position is we have top of the league talent and depth at all positions so coaching is the only thing keeping us from hanging a banner?

That could very well be. Unfortunately, players going "off script" for extended periods does not bode well for the rest of the season. Also of concern is why that is happening in the first place.

What was Bill Self's reason for losing to ISU? He's a pretty good coach - maybe he can give some pointers.

I wonder how much of the tension and angst being expessed on this board is actually coming from other sources, without us really being aware of it.

Maybe it's just me, but ISU athletics have been a refuge these past few years from the daily barrage of news feeds filled with political rants and terrible things happening or being planned. In a year where I need that refuge more than ever, the wins/loses haven't been quite what I'd hoped for.

And it's just so much easier for me to focus on the ISU "problem", whatever it happens to be, than the big outside world stuff, which looks insurmountable. I've been so frustrated at times watching games lately, but objectively, I don't think that I'd have had that same reaction or feeling in previous years.

Many of the criticisms I've read of this team seem valid and reasonable, but for me, I think real life is unfairly skewing the way I view them.

Believe me, there were plenty of people on here saying we would be better this year because Prohm would actually have a full roster to work with. The common theme last year was we were underachieving because of lack of depth.

They also said we would be able to rest guys like Morris and Thomas alot more this year with Jackson coming in. That hasnt happened yet and now Im reading comments like guys are gassed again from playing 35 minutes.

Now this year its because of no post players. Next year while we are fighting for the 8th seed in the Big 12 tourney the excuse will be "youth".

Same guys saying we were going to be loaded this year are the same that said our WR group has been among the best in the league or our OL is super talented.

Many, many posters on here should stick with kitty pictures or new music rather than coaching and recruiting basketball in hindsight.

I am not a huge fan of Prohm, but where is our senior leadership? This is something you would expect from a team full of freshman, but we started 5 seniors last night. We get innondated with CF stories where we quote, "we need to keep our foot on the gas against Texas", "if we lose against texas the Ku win means nothing", "every game is important", but we go out and lay the ultimate dud. This loss lies on the backs of our seniors who didn't come out to play against Texas.

The leadership is in Indy playing pro ball. What's left are the role players.

Why doesn't Fred have the Bulls up there with the Cavaliers and Warriors? Why didn't Campbell take the team to a major bowl in 2016? They need some players, maybe? So does Prohm.

Can only play who is on your schedule. 2 losses over an entire season doesn't happen by luck.

I'm just saying that the schedules aren't equivalent. The reason why Shaka lost more games likely had to do with having a more difficult schedule. Do you think Illinois State would win more or less games if they had to play a Big 10 or Big 12 schedule?

If we want to have a discussion that is terrific. If you want to simply call me names because you don't like my opinions....well that's kind of the direction our society is heading.

I have been a fan for over 32 years (since I was 7 years old). And I have donated to the Cyclone Club since I was 23 years old...always increasing every year. I don't need a lecture from some fly-by-night fan who thinks the only "true" fans are the ones that only say positive things. Look at my posting history, I didn't call for Rhoads' head, McDermott's head or anyone else....ever. That is not my MO. Do I have some discontent with this coach....I do and I think my reasons are valid based upon what I have seen the past two years. Am I looking for him to be fired....absolutely not and I've said he will ultimately be judged on 2018-19 season.

I think this team has talent and I also know it has its deficiencies. But does anyone think we shouldn't get to the NCAA tournament with the talent that we do have.

Monte is probably MAKING money this year.

Agreed. He was challenged in the off season by scouts to become a scorer and he's done that. At the end of the day, he's going to be ISU's assist (and the NCAA's) and steals leader. He's also averaging just under 20 points a game while having a handful of brilliant scoring games. Versatility. Versatility. Versatility.
