Why can't I have an opinion? What has McDermott done to gain my respect and trust in him?
So many are just blindly following him, that eventually you have to realize that I cannot think of a single coach who's highly regarded, that wasn't able to get their team to some kind of postseason in 3 years. We can make up excuses, but he had an All-Big 12 player on the team this past year.
Sometimes you just have to look what's going on, step back, and realize we have a coach who is in over his head at this level. If he went back to the MVC or some other mid-major, he'd do just fine...
Sometimes I wish people would know at least one fact before they speak. Coach K at Duke had 3 losing seasons before getting going in the 4th. Too bad he came from Army instead of a top major program. I would appreciate a listing of your playing and coaching experience so I can understand where your knowledge comes from.

Coach K went to the NIT his first year at Duke. They had a winning record...
Afterwards they had two seasons of losing, then went to the NCAAs.
We haven't even been to the NIT yet...
Michael Krzyzewski is better than Greg McDermott....Wow, who knew...?

I don't believe McD is better than Coach K but comments about mid major and going nowhere bug me a little. I also believe Duke had won a national title before and was a respected program with a few down years prior to Coach K.
I am still waiting to hear your playing and coaching experience from which you base most of your "expert" opinions.
Also, you say there were a respected program when Coach K took over. So was ISU with McDermott. We made the post season each of the previous 3 years that McDermott came here.
...
It was 2 years not 3. The programs name was being drug through the mud in Morgans last year. His teams also underacheived.
We started over from scratch when McDermott came here. Its going to take at least 3 years to build a respectable program from the bottom. I said from the beginning, I am giving him 4 years to turn this thing around. Next year is year 4.
We have the team to do a lot of damage next year. We need to see results. If none come, I will most likely be one of those people that thinks a change is needed. It takes time and patience to build the a program from where it was and I'm not seeing a lot of it from some people on here.

To some degree. Like I said, it's 1 thing if it's 1 or 2. It'd be another if 5 of your 12 guys leave in 1 year and none of them go pro or graduate. . Besides DG and Brackins, if Lucca and Boozer are gone, we'll have 3 new starters, and all of our bench guys being brand new or coming off of a redshirt.
I just can't think of any teams that have to redefine themselves every year (except for when they have some stud Freshman go pro)...
A fun exercise to do (and one which I've done earlier) is to find a well respected coach of the past 10-15 years, and see how long it took them to go to at least the NIT. You will find that it takes about 3 years to build a program in basketball. You can find schools who had turmoil and/or no basketball tradition arrive within 3 years from having a good coach.
I do think we have a good shot at making the NCAAs this year, and I hope it builds into something wonderful.
What stinks is when you have potentially 5 guys leaving this year, even with all of the optimism and excitement the fans have about the upcoming season...
