Eight years ago the guy gets married to the young maiden, haskids. He tells her he is so proud to be her husband. Father-in-law offers him multi-year contract to be his CEO. Soon stops showing up for work and forgetsabout coming home at night to the wife and kids.
On Halloween this year, five days before the 8th wedding anniversary,he promises her he will do his best to be show up for work and come home moreoften. She agrees that if he will behome two nights of the five she will take him back in loving arms.

So Paul has a girlfriend? Or you think he should come home every night? Oh I get it we should only be satisfied with never losing. Yeah that is realistic.

What if the 2 wins are . . . Oklahoma and Oklahoma State?

I think it's hilarious that people think we're actually going to win more than one more game. We're a train wreck. I love Lanning but get ready for the growing pains. Guess I'll just have to wait for the OK game for people to get off this little kool-aid break everyone is on.

Well aren't you just a little ray of sunshine...oh wait...what?, he's always like this...oh, ok, nevermind.

Did the Manginator call the idiotic play to set up the kick on the left hash? Cole should have hit it, but that play call was bad.

He missed an extra point. Dead center, 17 yards away, and he missed it. Don't me that "the play call was bad" nonsense.

Please consider one thing when deliberating the fate of CPR. IF ISU beats UT, KSU, WVU, we would end up 5-7 - more like 6-6 with any competence in placekicking. We would be the best 5-7 team in the country - based on #1 SOS. We would deserve a bowl bid, but probably wouldn't get it. We would have 4 conference wins - have we ever surpassed 4 conference wins? We would have 7 losses against 6 ranked teams (IA, Toledo, Okie, OSU, TCU, BU). No one should be considering 5-7 a failure. IMO it is 50/50 that he is gone at 4-8.

Amazing what Baylor losing Russell, some favorable bad weather, and another failed coaching hire will do for replenishing the kool-aid. A second half victory too. Another actual win and JP may be able to start the NEZ.

Too bad you couldn't watch the Baylor game.

I think we've lost to 2 elite teams. 2 very good teams and 1 good team.[/QUOTE]

Not defending CPR, but this is very true. Of the games that you mentioned, the real troublesome one is the TTU game, because they were not great, especially on defense, and the Clones looked hapless. The tow elite team, well I don't really worry about them. The thing that bothers me the most is that the offense completely disappeared for whole quarters. It sounds like MM was in charge of calling the plays, so it is safe to say that he was also the guy that made or didn't make the adjustments that lead to being shut out in the last 3 quarters of the TCU and Iowa games.

4 of 5 and he's probably back. 3 and more likely than not he'll be back, but it will be a tough sell. 2 doesn't get it in my opinion.
Thing is, McDermott finished his 4th losing season back in March of 2010. He was doing the equivalent of what Paul has in football the last few years. Attendance had plummeted and the team was returning next to nothing for what was going to be McDermott's 5th year. Still though, even with absolutely no hope to be sold, JP was bringing McDermott back. I'm afraid even if there is no hope for next year in fb, JP will find a way to bring Paul back.

i agree we weren't trying to win. Offense was burning clock like they were ahead. Pretty clear we were content with making the game look close.

CPR did say that keeping Baylor under 50 was the team's goal. Didn't mention anything about winning the game which I thought was odd.

We can go 3-9 and I am confident he will be back. Jamie supports his hires no matter how much they suck. He was going to keep Greg McDermott a 5th year after going like 14-18 every year and 4-12 in the Big 12. That is just pathetic.

Ding ding ding ding ding! We have a winner!

Name a coach JP has fired. Hint - one coached us to our winningest season in that sport's history at ISU. The other was probably a bad fit and not JP's fault.

I agree that 5-7 would be OK to bring CPR back. Bad coaching market plus that 5-7 record is basically 6-6...I know a loss is a loss, blame coaching for the FG angle, yes. For me, at this point 5-7/6-6 is at least moving in the right direction, and the coaches have not lost the players. This is a tough league with only 1 true cupcake (other than us). Now, I think he should have been fired after last year, but if he can get the team to 5-7 then I'm OK bringing him back. Anything less, that's it.

I think 2 wins and we're stuck with him for another year, JP really really doesn't want to fire him. Heck if the 1 win was the right win, he's pry back, especially now that (regardless of the reason) he can use Mangino as a scapegoat. Whether intentional or not, CPR's wagon is hitched to Lanning, how he plays will be the biggest factor in him being here next year, besides money.

I agree with the following: Yes Virginia WE aka clone fans will be stuck with rhoads for another year because JP does not want to fire his neighbor................

A win over Texas or Okie State will keep his job for another year...........and of course his "Incompetent Staff" who cant recruit or develop players will be back also..........

Just more of the same for cyclone FB fans..........

4/5 wins - he stays, no brainer
3 wins - he stays but is a tougher sell
2 wins - he is gone even though Jamie wouldn't want to
0/1 wins - he gone, no brainer

Not sure who you are referring to, but I was saying 5-7 would get him another year in August. Haven't changed my mind on that.

I said 6-6 was my minimum. But I've changed that to 5-7 primarily because our kicker blew a routine 32 yard FG at Toledo. You can blame the coaches for the penalties (I don't) or not positioning the ball (based on what we know now, that probably doesn't even matter) if you want but kickers are expected to make those at this level and I'm not going to hold the coaching staff liable for a college kicker missing an easy one.

Plus, we could possible play SIX 10+ win teams this year. That's just insane.

If we go 5-7 (unlikely), that also means we go 4-5 in Big 12 play. That's good enough for me for another year.
