My husband is leaving for the East Coast/PA for work. We’ll see if he makes it back at the end of the week depending on how much travel is affected. This looks to be a nasty storm.

PA is a toss up but if I were him I would be packing enough to be there for a week if he can't leave before Wednesday. Flights will be cancelled and planes will get moved and it will take a few days to get back on track.

He is scheduled to fly home Thursday. And of course he has tickets to Saturday’s game.

Especially that far north I think taking off on Thursday he should be fine. Barring the trip back routing him through Charlotte(AA).

For the most part yes but with hubs being impacted you have to start to wonder where the plane/crew is. If they are not there the snowball rolls down hill.

True but not too many hubs in that area. Really only American with Charlotte, Thursday looks to be a little early for it to be having significant impacts on DC where it would throw more things into chaos.

Hmm. Family has been vacationing south of Myrtle Beach (Pawleys Island area to be specific) for probably 20+ years now. Guessing that might not happen next year. Wonder if my folks have put anything down for the deposit on the house we rent.

Weather channel lady said that in the NW quadrant of Florence there was a reported 83 foot wave. I dont know how that data was collected be it a buoy or hurricane hunter- if true that is just unfathomable!

Doing some zigging and zagging as it approaches the coast. Our local weather guy indicated he thought forthcoming updates may push it a little further south, but that the steering mechanisms are a bit hazy this far out.

CLT would be a big disruption throughout the system, but there are a lot of flights between the Northeast and Florida that would need to reroute themselves.

Looks like it is turning south.

ATL would slaughter Delta, of course, and Southwest has a big operation there.

Losing the DC airports would be bad, too, of course.

Isn't ATL the busiest airport in the world now? That'd take out more than Delta and Southwest...

I was just reading about the storm from the movie The Perfect Storm last night. Apparently a buoy recorded a 100.4’ wave during that actual storm.

You are right. ATL has the highest passenger volume on the planet.

A lot of that is international, though, which is slightly different. I figured the OP was curious mostly about domestic routes. It is my understanding that airlines do not often "flip" a plane or crew between a short-haul domestic and long-haul international route.

In terms of domestic passengers, ATL is mostly Delta and Southwest.

It’s the 50 year storm Jonny and there’s nothing you can do to stop me from going out there.
