Posted this is another thread but Thomas left because he knew he'd fail a drug test.
I've heard he was homesick. A failed drug test, assuming it's pot, is nothing to leave over. It's one game at most.

Yeah I get that, but I seem to see people are ok with these departures. While it is probably inevitable, it just sucks nexus these older guys were talented and we lose a lot, there isn't any way a bunch of freshman make a bowl game. The pieces are there - they just need to stay.
I guess I just hoped that these kids would see how close they were to winning a lot of these games, and a better coach could allow them to actually win those games.
You say that like it's an "either/or" proposition. Matter of fact, lots of people seem to be.It is always going to suck losing experienced upper classmen on the team. But if those upper classmen aren't going to buy into the new system and instead be a cancer on this program then it is best that they leave, however that happens.

He wouldn't get kicked off the team for this, would he? Or is this his way of not giving up pot?
It will be interested to see how this gets spun. "I need to find a program that is a better fix, I mean fit."

People saying Campbell is running off players or that Rhoads is more family oriented are pretty daft.
So were we a few coaching decisions away from 6 wins last year or 10-20 players away? Which is it?
I was under the impression that we had the players to get it done, but not the coaches. This sucks if it's true that we are losing experienced guys. If it's only these 2, then fine, but 12-15? That is going to hurt any chance of being a bowl team next year.
Fear? I'm jubilant. Clean the house. As long as Lazard, Lanning, and Warren are on board everyone else can gtfo.

About "getting our MAC on"...ISU is a ways from mediocrity now. I don't know what fantasyland some of these guys were living in, but the team sucked. Maybe some of the new twitter and video releases are cheesy. But at least it's a better approach than claiming you're hard hat or blue collar. I mean, what kind of selling point is that to a 17 year old kid? Come here because we are blue collar and work hard. I know FB players have to love the weightroom and all, but that just does not sound enticing. Come here and go to work. Kids don't want to work, no one wants to work. It's a necessary obstacle to get where you want to go. They needed to sell less of the process and more of the payoff.
If the new staff has a no tolerance policy, then yes, he would.
I also wonder how much of it is related to the strict rules related to practice and class. 6am practice. Sit in the front 2 rows of class. Show up for class 10 minutes early. Coach Campbell said these things in his recruitment day press conference.
