Can you elaborate on why you don't like those three off the field? Personally, I knew all 3 "off the field" and while Spears was a little too quirky for my liking, Arnaud and Woody were always great people to be around.

They received their degrees (w/ some academic recognition), Woody was in grad school during his 5th year of eligibility, their names never popped up on the Story County inmate list or any police blotters, they volunteered their time in the community, and they worked their butts off for ISU football.

If you were at all close to them you knew them better than me. I'm not saying I had many run ins with them and I agree that they were pretty good representatives of ISU as far as academics and not getting into trouble.

I just think the fact that two pretty prominent football players going out and say a guy should or will be kicked off a team on their podcast is pretty crappy and I think it might say something about how he was in the locker room. Of course, I wasn't in there so you never know but we have all heard stories about the divided locker room last year.

Hating on Jeff Woody. Never thought I would see the day.

No one was hating on him. I gave my opinion that I thought it was wrong to say that stuff on their podcast. If they want to give a bunch of insider insight, fine but don't stop at people getting booted.

I don't have a problem with what Woody said. If there are cancers on the team they need to be weeded out no matter how good they are. If that cancer spreads and other guys get the bad attitude then it doesn't matter how talented they are because they still aren't going to win any games.

I have seen the cancer up close with my own eyes in High School and College. At my High School (a couple years after I left) there was a couple really talented kids but they didn't want to do what the coach said. The coach would call plays and they would call their own in the huddle, unfortunately no one else on the team stepped up and put a stop to it because these guys were "the guys" and no one wanted to **** them off. The team sucked and didn't win many games. In college I could name lots of guys at ISU that were cancers, some got run off and unfortunately some didn't but should have.

Maybe Woody doesn't name them because he doesn't feel like it is his place to specifically call out guys in a public forum. I feel this way, I would say if someone is a cancer but I am not going to name them because it isn't my place and I don't feel it's right to call out by name these guys.

When he decides to say that a few players need to be off the team, but doesn't have the courage or integrity to name them - yeah, kinda think that's irresponsible.
I don't even know what to tell you on this one, that's just stupid to start throwing people under the bus. TJ was already suspended so it's different.

You said you've never been a fan of those three off the field but yet this is the only thing you've said you didn't like. Please explain before making yourself look even more stupid

You'd prefer he calls out players? I would argue a man with integrity would NOT do that :twitcy:

I'm not going to rehash small interactions with people that probably lead to an opinion that isn't probably the most informed. I was never a fan of Woody's coach speak and I'm not a fan of what he did in that podcast and that all jives with my opinion of him. If he wants to say that stuff, fine, but I'm going to say when I disagree. Calling a guy out for playing bad or something like that isn't the same as saying a guy should or will get kicked off a team, especially when we don't know what he did.

I may be wrong (doubt it) but I would assume Woody probably has more insight to the team than you do

Yeah, we should kick off more kids with bad attitudes. Just look at that Winston kid at that Florida school. That cancerous behavior is running their program straight down....into a national championship. Meanwhlle, ISU can hold their heads high and celebrate in perpetuity 2-win seasons with a team full of good-natured, god-fearing, gentle but hard-working walk-ons.

I thought CPR's credo is helping these boys turn into grown men? How about for a change he learns to handle some differing attitudes and egos and put some Ws for our program into the record books.

Or maybe it's more important for the program that perennially-underachieving Granpappy Wally just doesn't appreciate all those little ruffians with no respect for their elders...

Well obviously he does. I'm not questioning whether his opinion is educated or not. I don't like that after it was brought up that he was suspended he strongly indicated that he should be booted. I don't care about the "there's a few guys" stuff. That's fine. I just didn't like the Mutcherson part.

All that said, I think we should refrain from booting some of our better players. It hasn't worked that well in the past. From very limited knowledge, Mutcherson strikes me as maybe someone who butts heads with coaches but maybe not other players. If he's affecting other players, then I agree with Curt, he probably needs to go.

Because of the hundreds of players CPR has coached throughout his 20 some year career he's never coached players with differing attitudes or egos. :jimlad:

So Mutcherson is permanently gone? No wonder Paul had to hit the recruiting trail out of Ft Worth. Maybe he is checking out some west Texas dustbowl talent for backfield people.

We should get rid of all the locker room cancers so we can go 0-12 and get a new coach.
