I wonder if Burton will grad transfer somewhere else.

For what reason? He's pretty much a guaranteed starter and is going to get all the minutes he wants. He seems like the kind of guy that values that as much as anything else.

Since we are talking about next year's team, does anyone know what's going on with Dembele? It's almost April. When does he need to make his decision by?

I see Thomas as a huge asset next year. He showed throughout this season that he was fully capable of creating his own shot in the lane. I honestly wouldn't be surprised at all if he's our leading scorer next year. The points will have to be even throughout the team without Niang, but I just see Matt as our go to option when points are needed.

Will surprise everyone and Prohm will be named Big12 coach of the year. Next years team will be loaded with talent and depth. Niang may be gone, but I believe we'll have a better balance off/def in the front court than we had this season..Our back court should be one of the better in the nation..Figure top 20 and maybe better..

Monte will have to pass him the ball more for that to happen

I agee. I was yelling pass the ball to Thomas last night. Matt really made a big jump this year. He looked ready for that stage last night.

Why is Malou automatically going to be rusty? I think Malou will be an absolute stud. It's going to be impossible to replace a guy like Niang (I want to cry now thinking he's gone), but Malou can light it up from both outside and inside and his athleticism will help us a ton on defense. I also think you're crazy thinking 3sus doesn't start. I think our lineup will be Morris, Thomas, Long, Bowie, Malou but would not be surprised to see Burton start over Bowie. Bowie gives us a little more size but Burton has shown us that because of his strength he can guard guys that are a bit taller than him.

We won't have to worry about our bench next year since we have at least 3-4 guys capable of producing good minutes off the bench. I'm optimistic we will have a top 25 team.

Didn't he quit playing basketball to focus on academics? Naz will likely be in the McGee role next year so ISU will be more balanced next year.

Feel like we're missing a player who we can direct some hate towards next year.

I think a lot of next years success depends on the off-season improvement of Carter and Ernst. If they improve, i think we can finish top 3-4 in the league. If they don't, we will be hanging in the middle of the pack.

Interestingly enough, depth shouldn't be an issue next year (again depending on Ernst/Carter). Loaded in the back court.

Back court: Morris (?), Thomas, Naz, Jackson, Babb, Cooke, Ashton
Front Court: Carter, Ernst, Burton, Malou, Bowie

Also, Burton is a transfer, but still in his original class. Next year is only his fourth year in college. So it seems unlikely that he'd be in a position to be a graduate transfer.

There's a chance Jakolby Long or Solomon Young could contribute too, they're both physically Big 12 players as far as true freshman go.

I think with Monte there's very little limit on the ceiling. Without him we still have a shot to make it 6 NCAAs in a row and then you never know.

Nice! I totally didn't know that.

...be strange to watch without Niang.

And will ill be a very different team. I think we can be middle of the Big 12 which will get us into the tournament.

Next year will probably be a continuation of Hoiball: 4 guard type players and a forward. Our tallest returning player with minutes is 6-4. The problem I have with this system is that you are always out-rebounded and you can't defend the paint. This has been our biggest weakness for several years now. So if our starters are Naz, Matty, Morris, Burton (a guard), and Ernst (unknown ability) we are going to be manhandled in the post and we will again be hoping to make up the difference shooting 3's. IMHO we should not expect consistent results from jump shots - there are too many cold streaks. Defense, rebounds, and layups have more consistency. So i think we need 2 guys on the floor who are at least 6-7 . That's not asking a lot.

If you mean he's coming off the bench you're crazy. If you mean being the heat check then yes.
