I'll admit this one hurts more than usual as we FINALLY got back to being ranked and playing basketball like we are capable of playing. I realize this is life in the Big 12, but crap, the timing of this, and the way it happened (see numerous ref posts) stings.

We’re going to fine. It’s going to take a few more weeks to get the rotations down. THT coming around is the positive from this game. Hope Cam’s injury is minor, he was on the verge of breaking out. Need to continue to improve on our 3 point D and ball denial. Huge upside and I’ll take 2-1 to start out conference play.

As I stated before - poor end to the first half killed us. That said, against any Texas team on the road we are going to get inconsistent calls. You expect a little bit of favorable calls for the home team, but it is always amplified in Texas - lots and lots of Oil Guy Donors - you can't tell me that that does not factor into the minds of these refs. You ESPECIALLY see it on absolutely BS calls like the one when Shayok got the rebound. He gets fouled on the arm, no call. The second BU player touches the ball briefly and his hand slides to Shayok's arm and, TWEET, jump ball. THAT totally changed the momentum of the game. We may well have gone down and turned the ball over or missed a shot - but we were shooting about 60% in the second half and I liked our chances of scoring. That was a ref, looking for a way to give the ball back to BU. He11, when I'm reffing 5th and 6th grade AAU games, I don't make a jump ball call that quickly. AND, if I whistle anything in that same situation, it's the foul on the player who slapped the opponent's arm to begin with!

There was a lot of bad offense all game. 3 air ball 3s, classic missed shayok layups, tht dribbling into triple teams, I could keep going.
Shayok has missed a weird amount of layups this year. Has to be a half dozen at least.

I feel like I'm going insane by watching B12 / B10 refs year after year.

"The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result."

Cry in your pillow tonight then. This is objective take. We didn't play like a B12 champion team today.

Well no ****. Kansas didn’t play like a champion on Saturday. OKlahoma state beat Texas today. That’s a win some of you bitched about last week.

I can swallow the loss. It is life on the road in the big 12, young team, yadda yadda yadda. But I cannot wait until the day we win a game b/c the other team endures the same ******** we just endured.

That would be much easier too stomach but they were talking how Baylor was one of the youngest teams in the conference right now. No excuse for losing down there.

i'll bite. how many "-ref" points do you think our team should be able to overcome on the road, on average, to earn a road win? i don't care about an asterisk, obviously what's done is done. they played hard, certainly no worse than they did against OSU in the second half. but there was a big difference here, and it wasn't just BU.
Great teams handle adversity and win on the road. Doesn't matter about the ref's. That's what loser's talk about when they lose.

You have no ******* idea where we are headed.

God, what did you peopls do without message boards to fuel your idiotic ideas after games.

I realize you are not and were never an Iowa State fan, but you’re really giving yourself away by acting like an Iowa fan.

Yep, Im an Iowa fan because I hate losing to bad teams. I guess you enjoy watching losses like that.

I really think THT will have a bright future with us and beyond, but he really hurt us a few times tonight. Part of living with talented youth. He'll learn from it I'm sure.

Refs were so inconsistent. Started the game call everything. The second half the called almost nothing. Especially on Baylor.

We need to find a way to play faster in these games. Baylor controlled the tempo. ...and made a bunch of threes

We really needed to rip off a 2 minute, 8-0 run somewhere in the middle of the 2nd half to shift the tempo in our favor.

We are young too. Playing on the road. Should we have won? Yes. Should Anyone lose their mind ? No.

With Hoiberg unemployed and hanging out in Chicago waiting to get back into coaching, Prohm better figure out ways to win these games. If we collapse and miss the tournament we are going to see an awful fan base, asking for donors and Pollard to hire Hoiberg back.
