As brutal of a win is that was, I still feel confident that that short handed Tech team is probably no worse than a full strength Iowa or Memphis team.
Which means we should be able to finish about 6-12 or 7-11 in this thing

Yeah, I'd like to see all the calls where that goes against Jaz. No clue what the commentator was talking about.

Maybe 20 years ago that's a no call. That's called on the offensive player 99.99% of the time these days.
That was an amazing play by Jazz. He established his position beautifully before the shot went up.

Iron sharpens Iron, and that’s what Big 12 conference play will be like. I can almost guarantee March Madness’ winner will come from this conference.
idk... these teams are gonna be wore out. unlike a team like Duke or Gonzaga which are gonna cake walk into being 1 seeds.

As ugly as that was, I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a game where an undermanned team like that doesn’t play well. Something to be said for being able to play with nothing to lose.

It's like they knew to play as sound as possible. It's weird what having that kind of limit does for a group.

Not the most flattering camera angle for Gabe Kalscheur.

He’s not in a slump. When your bad shooting nights far outweigh your good shooting nights, your just not a good offensive player. He shoots barely above 30% from the field and barely above 20% from three.

Reminds me of Prentiss Nixon. Played hard, played great defense but just couldn’t buy a jump shot. You keep waiting for the slump to end but it just never really did.

People, we were on a 24 game conference losing streak going back to February 2020. Take a fricken W and be happy about it. I know the non-con changed our perspective but we have to crawl before we can walk in the toughest conference in the country. Tech played a great defensive game too.

That game set back college basketball about 20 years. If you had told someone after watching it, that the two teams were ranked #11 and #25 in the nation, no one would believe you.

It's a conference win, but man, was it ugly to watch.
I prefer to look at it as a 1-0 baseball game with 2 amazing pitchers battling each other.

the out-of-bounds plays drawn up--full-court or under the basket, were magnificent under Hoiberg

TJ?
~ into the coffin-corner, or to a player straddling the sideline. We get trapped immediately

come on TJ !!
There were players open down the court on one of those plays, the inbounder just didn't have the balls to throw it. Sometimes it's the execution of the players that's the problem, not the coach.

Might be time to make a difficult decision with Gabe..
We need Gabe, he's solid defensively and makes FTs. He just needs to reduce his role when it comes to ball handling. We also need him to soak up some minutes as we are not the deepest team.
