Unless your last name is Saban, and mine is not, the football game decisions are up to Paul Rhoads. He knows a lot more than we do.

We don't have a stellar bowl record. We don't have a stellar historical win-lose record.

I hate losing as much as the the next guy, but I'll wake up tomorrow morning, hit the road, turn the radio on, incessantly change channels and start thinking about next season.

It is very hard to beat a team twice in a season. Tulsa are good enough that you can't take beating them again for granted. WHich is where a HC needs to earn his money as a motivator. The game started with the team making plays. They fell apart partially because the HC refused to make adjustments. Add in bad decisions and he takes a lot of the blame for the team not having a winning record. Tulsa weren't that good but theyre good enough that if they want it a lot more they'll win.

Next season without 2 top 10 linebackers the offense will need to score a lot of points. Rhoads needs a new coordinator and schemes to do this.

Some have mentioned the tackling. Where was a timeout and just ripping into the guys for ****** tackling? Nope we don't get that one. We get an *** chewing on guy that made a dumb play following a terrible decision to accept a holding penalty after we hold them on third down.

He didn't rip Jensen for essentially the same thing. Rhoads looked like a complete baffoon
They would have went for it on 4th down. We have issues but your posts are making you look like a fool.

Rhodes seemed tired and the team did not look like they cared. We were missing tackles and letting them carry our guys for 3 to 10 yards after contact. It was one of those games where it seemed like we were going to blow them out and then they just went to sleep. We had the worst three quarters of football that I've seen offensively by any team in any game this year. Western Kentucky had a better offensive game against Alabama. This was a college team playing a highschool team kind of numbers day.

CPR has done more for ISU FB in 4 years than any coach in our history. This program was a train wreck when he took over and he has fixed the train. When you have to build a program and players from what they were, it takes more than 4 years. What CPR has done at ISU in such a short time is outstanding. Yes the program has to move foward from here. Yes CPR has made some mistakes. Yes it sucks to lose these games. But to imply he has no control over this program and we may need to find a new coach is flat out crazy.

Great post.
I too think CPR is no doubt the right man for the job. I just hope he will do some soul searching and determine if he has the right guys to help him take the program where we all want it to be.

My bad we were excellent today right? 2 years in a row we have laid a big fat egg in a bowl game that is on the coach

Your post was awful because you couldn't back up why Rhoads was awful. Today's game falls on Rhoads because every game falls on the head coach, but unlike you say there were not specific coaching decisions that cost us the game. By that I mean he didn't pull a Mark Richt vs. Alabama and refuse to spike it. So you are right that we laid an egg and by definition Rhoads is at fault, however, you have no idea why Rhoads is at fault and that is why you "puked fail" as TXCyclones already said.

mccarney actually made us above average

cpr has us stuck in average right now

he needs a breakthru season before saying he did more than mccarney did

Did mac have record years for attendence? I liked mac but we hqd peaked and were not moving forward so we made a change. I think CPR will kep us moving up but in this tough conference it will be tough.

Rhoads is fine but is clear we need to change our bowl preparation and replace our O-line and OC at the very least.

Male Bovine Feces. I loved him at the time, but McCarney built a house of cards. His 2 best seasons (00 & 01) we had the HUGE advantage of not playing Texas or Oklahoma who were the top of the big 12 at the time. Then, 04 & 05, when we made a run at the north division title...no Texas, no Oklahoma. That was when the north was becoming known as the Big 12 light. CPR has to take on the best of the Big 12 every year, because we play them all. When DMAC had to do that, we had 'average' years. Plus we have 9 conference games.

i didnt see anything wrong with rhoads' coaching today. he had every right to rip into laing. a fifth year senior doing something stoopid like that when we held to a fg attempt and he gives them a first down. he deserved to get yelled at. its a bowl game! the things i had the most problems with were our tackling and offensive play calling. it's pretty easy for ANYONE to beat us by simply watching our game film and seeing how predictable on offense. i was watching the game with my brother and would tell him what play was going to be called based off of the formation. i was right on about 90% of the plays. when a fan sitting on a couch knows what play is coming you better believe damn well that the opposing defense knows. it's patchetic! get rid of messingham and get someone in there who can bring some creativity to the table

The offense looks like some high school student sat on the pot and designed plays in his spare time for playbook use. These cannot be ex MENSA plays.

To be clear...these plays were created not with the hands while sitting on the pot...correct? It looked to me that they were not in pen/pencil/crayon/dry erase marker, but....a different medium.

No doubt that was a complete fail of a coaching effort today. However, you are talking about a guy who have put together 4 very solid years in a row and three bowl appearances ... an easy 5 yard overthrown pass from four in a row... How many bowls has Iowa State played in its history? Not that many. I like the chances of our team improving. It was so painful to watch this team fold today but you have to think that in a conference with 9 out of 10 bowl teams this is not so bad. Only three teams that they played all year didn't go to a bowl and Iowa just simpl wet the bed this year at the end of the season. I was very upset after the game but now upon reflection I see a lot of promise. I also don't understand why there is a QB controversy. Richardson did not have a bad day. Our team had a bad day.

WHo is in charge of getting them ready? Tulsa was clearly more fired up than we were and it remained that way throughout. We never took the **** out them even with the quick start. We were flat in the bowl game last year and flat this year. We had no response in either game. I understand some will say these games don't matter, but this is becoming a trend. And if we get to a premier game why would we expect any different

I don't think we'll have to ever worry about that.
