I knew they did, but thought they killed that off about 4-5 years ago.As of a few years ago, the bottom teams were netting around $1.5M each, with the top teams losing around $1M each.

Michigan says no, they wont even participate in NIL. Texas seems to be of the belief that it was the big12 holding them back which is absurd so who knows. What would you do if you were president at Michigan or Texas and Fox/ESPN tells you you’ll make another $50 million or whatever if you do this? Especially if you know (or believe) that the league is in motion with or without you?
I think it’s just a matter of time.
If you do that the problem is you are greatly limiting the ratings. A single super league will have drastically lower ratings because CFB isn't the NFL. Most people don't just pick up a team from out of state. Right now cfb is in a dangerous place but as of right now there are still 5 power conferences and no team has been relegated to a non power 5. When that contraction starts happening for more then a handful of teams then that is going to be a massive problem.Best guess?
Bama, LSU, Texas, OU, GA, Fla, TAMU, Auburn, Tenn
OSU, Mich, USC, ND, PSU, UCLA, probably 1 of
Oregon, Clemson, Miami
maybes: FSU, Washington, Arkansas, Ok St, Ole Miss, Mich St, Wisky, Nebby, IA
OSU nearly went independent. BIG is not as stable as you might want.Ah, so they're going to break away from the B1G and SEC, form their own league, all the elites are going to play each other throughout the regular season, maybe mixed in with a few of the have-nots?
OSU nearly went independent. BIG is not as stable as you might want.
Yeah but Bama, Texas, tOSU, ND, Michigan, PSU, Georgia, OU.... maybe LSU, maybe Auburn, are the only programs on that really elite brand level. That's 10 megaultrasuperleague members at best. Oregon? They haven't even gotten a B1G invite.Best guess?

As their AD said, it was a thought for less then a second before he smartened up. Dude was just frustrated, it was never remotely considered or would actually happen.OSU nearly went independent. BIG is not as stable as you might want.
That's exactly why I think the breakaway is what will happen. If the other teams wont take less money and wont kick others out then joining with the SEC teams or just going there completely is what's going to happen eventuallyThe other schools have an EQUAL Vote. Tell Ohio State they can leave. They can fight for an at large bid and negotiate their own TV package. And we won’t schedule Ohio State for ANY games.
Good luck ********.
I dont think you understand. The other schools have an EQUAL Vote. Tell Ohio State they can leave. They can fight for an at large bid and negotiate their own TV package. And we won’t schedule Ohio State for ANY games.

So just to be clear you think that OSU who will already be making more money then the SEC teams, will throw a fit to make more, then pack up and leave and go to the SEC who also doesn't have unequal sharing to demand unequal sharing there? That's a giant leap in logic. That's exactly why I think the breakaway is what will happen. OK nothing I will say will convince you but no one outside of big12 territory thinks like that. You're reacting as if your GF left you for a richer guy so you just automatically assume that every other girl you are with will do the same. I will concede that anything could happen but you also have to admit that your past dealing with how the Big12 was managed is shaping these beliefs more then the reality of what might occur.I dont think you understand.
Its not going to go like that, and it wont be just OSU.
What will happen is say everyone in the Big 10 is getting an equal $100M.
Teams Like OSU, Mich, USC, PSU, will say they bring in the majority of the value to the conference.
Similarly, to Bama, GA, TX, OU etc in the SEC.
What will happen is this group of schools will demand a larger share or they will break away and take their media value with them. Leaving the remaining schools with a much lower value. So what will happen is either you give the top teams a larger share and take a smaller share, and keep everything else. Or you lose them and lose even more.
But it will be a group that demands the larger revenue and not just 1, and a few of the middle schools might stand to keep the same value, and be willing to be swayed with the upper valued schools. The lower values know its either agree or be relegated.
No, they didn't. Check out what Smith himself said about that.OSU nearly went independent. BIG is not as stable as you might want.
Thought for a second he said, which was said after he mentioned he discussed it with the President and then His wife later. Good old Gene, our old AD which we realized, he says whatever helps him. Not one you can trust. As their AD said, it was a thought for less then a second before he smartened up. Dude was just frustrated, it was never remotely considered or would actually happen.
Well, Texas was making the most of any team out there the last couple years while in the big XII. What are their plans? So just to be clear you think that OSU who will already be making more money then the SEC teams, will throw a fit to make more, then pack up and leave and go to the SEC who also doesn't have unequal sharing to demand unequal sharing there? That's a giant leap in logic.
Lol, he’s a smart man. He dropped that comment clearly for leverage. Which he has.No, they didn't. Check out what Smith himself said about that.
So help me understand how exactly this would work. OSU, Mich, USC, PSU, Bama, GA, TX, and OU go off to form their own superleague. Then in the regular season, they all play each other? Then at the end of the regular season when two of them have emerged as the two best for that season, they play in a superleague title game?I dont think you understand.
Its not going to go like that, and it wont be just OSU.

I think the point is All these major players in both the Big 10 and SEC will be pushing for the same thing in the future. Meaning they will play off each other for leverage. So just to be clear you think that OSU who will already be making more money then the SEC teams, will throw a fit to make more, then pack up and leave and go to the SEC who also doesn't have unequal sharing to demand unequal sharing there? Texas situation is so weird. They didn't need the money for them it was a perception problem that the big12 was a weak or lesser conference which part of the reason for that perception was the fact that texas has been very bad. You could argue that they left for stability reasons but they were a huge cause of the instability so who knows with them.Well, Texas was making the most of any team out there the last couple years while in the big XII. What are their plans?
