Lot's of coaches win with Freshmen.
Not a lot. It happens now and then. Most freshmen need upperclassmen to help them out and hide their mistakes.

How could you feel sorry for McDermott? He's the one who brought these guys in. It's all on him---no more excuses, no more blaming Wayne Morgan, no more belly-aching. This **** gets so f****** old.I really feel sorry for Mac right now.
Under pressure conditions, a person does what comes instinctively. Perhaps the ISU players have been taught to rebound, but they haven't been taught to rebound in a way that makes it second nature. In other words, rebounding hasn't been drilled into their brains. If it was, the players would be doing it, because it would be their instinct. You don't have to be at practice to know that. All you have to do is evaluate the gametime results.

Yeah, named Jim Boeheim with Carmelo Anthony, Frank Martin at Kansas State with Beasley, Calipari with Rose and Wall.
What do all these players have in common? Hmmmmmm I wonder...

They all passed every class their freshman year and had perfect attendence the 2nd semster?
6 credits or whatever is tough to pull.
Its a shame that you only have to pass 2 classes to play college BB, for 1 season.
The Fab Five would have fit into your post nicely.
The way it sounds he had done a lot to try to get this team to gel, or have a leader or whatever and he just cannot get it right. He is a good guy and means well, but is having troubles that he just cannot figure out how to solve. How in the hell did he know that no one would step up as a leader and that he would struggle with getting these guys to mesh.
It's just disappointing because this season was supposed to be the one where everything was going to click, and so far it's just not. You're right, you can't predict the lack of leadership or ability to mesh. It just sucks that things aren't looking as bright right now as they were pre-season.The way it sounds he had done a lot to try to get this team to gel, or have a leader or whatever and he just cannot get it right. I'm not old enough to remember the fab 5.
One more that came to mind: Tim Floyd with OJ Mayo
He has had leaders in Rashon, Jiri, and Mike Taylor nd Wesley in years past. MCraikg appears to be our leader. Craig needs more assistance from the others. We need to have more intensity for 40 minutes and to use our possessions more smartly.

You and everyones else. This season can still be savaged, this team can play with anyone if they want to. I think that is why Mac is so frustrated he knows he has the players but he and them cannot connect.
I'll be interested to see what kind of effort and mindset this team plays with vs. North Dakota State. Hopefully they play with some real intensity. You and everyones else.
