Who's on Pollard's List?

He's an NBA head coach. He's not having success, but I think he'd be good. Just my opinion.

Do you really think he would lower himself to coming to ISU? Maybe being knocked around in the NBA changed him but he was pretty disdainful of ISU during his college days at KU.

To be on your list, they don't have to be people that would 100% say yes. Stevens may not be happy in the NBA and looking. Hornacek may have that "one job" that he'd leave for. Wouldn't hurt to ask. Few may be looking for a new challenge/change of scenery. Who knows? He's flirted with programs before.

well ****, if you're just going to put names on a list and don't care if they'd say yes you might as well put Phil Jackson on there. Maybe Greg Popavich is getting bored. Coach K could probably use a change of scenery by now.

Coaching a bad NBA team vs. coaching a good college team in a conference he played in? You'd have to ask him if it would be worth it. If he feels his time is about up in Orlando, he may take the money and good job. Again, doesn't hurt to ask. It doesn't take long to say no. It's not like he'd use us to negotiate a contract extension.

You can have your list, I'll have mine. I don't want any of those old, wrinkly suits. I'd like someone exciting, young and fresh.

Every AD has a list of coaches to contact in every sport in case their coach leaves for whatever reason. Who do you think is on Pollard's list or who would you like to see? My list:

'A' List
Brad Stevens
Gregg Marshall
Shaka Smart
Mark Few
Jacque Vaughn

'B' List
Chris Mack--Xavier
Tad Boyle--Colorado
Tim Miles--Nebraska
Jerod Haase--UAB
Archie Miller--Dayton

My top choice, though, would Jeff Hornacek.

No doubt we would have top names contacting us, possibly some surprises. So much going on here now. Would definitely be attractive to big names. Just have to pick the best of the best. I have faith that Jamie would be up to the task.

I go on vacation for a week - pretty much cutoff from ISU sports. And this is the first thread I open when I get in today.

Damn near gave me a heart attack.

Which one wouldn't you want to have as our head coach? Or am I over-shooting. OK, then let's talk to Ben Jacobson or the dude at AIB without even asking anyone else to make sure we get the first person we ask to say yes.

Or how about we enjoy the coach we have who just reaffirmed that he likes the job he has and all of the perks living here give his family.

Why is this even a concern for you at this point?

So what you are telling us is that it is a bye week for ISU major sports and the thread well has almost run dry? :skeptical:

Sorry, hadn't seen this topic posted. Just wondering what people thought about potential candidates for a coaching position. There was one for FB earlier in the year. Hadn't seen one for basketball.

Yes, and I like him and want hiim to stay forever, but every AD has a list and the questions was, who is on the list or who would you like to see on the list. Just some off-season talk during a bye week. Sorry.

Of all the millions of random things to talk about during a bye week, with basketball season a few weeks away, this is what you want to talk about?

There's always Pop. I think he was the last college coach beaten by Caltech before they went on their 26 year conference losing streak. Maybe he wants to redeem himself on the college level? And do I need the :jimlad:?

I thought so.

Listen pal, I don't want Freddy to go. Period. But things happen. Are we not allowed to talk about it? Or is that the one thing we're not allowed to talk about. We can talk about anything appropriate. If you don't like it, you don't have to participate.
