Who's on Pollard's List?

Every AD has a list of coaches to contact in every sport in case their coach leaves for whatever reason. Who do you think is on Pollard's list or who would you like to see? My list:

'A' List
Brad Stevens
Gregg Marshall
Shaka Smart
Mark Few
Jacque Vaughn

'B' List
Chris Mack--Xavier
Tad Boyle--Colorado
Tim Miles--Nebraska
Jerod Haase--UAB
Archie Miller--Dayton

My top choice, though, would Jeff Hornacek.

No doubt we would have top names contacting us, possibly some surprises. So much going on here now. Would definitely be attractive to big names. Just have to pick the best of the best. I have faith that Jamie would be up to the task.
I will just quote this one, because it started it all, but all your posts in this thread have me doing this:

funny but Spoelstra will be jobless in a couple years so if Hoiberg makes the next step it's Spo's to lose

also, I saw the OP say that Hornacek isn't doing well in the NBA. You need to watch the NBA before you make a dumb comment like that.

He was referring to Jacques Vaughn, Money.

I think he would have to pay back his GTFO settlement money because the agreement was he would never again coach at ISU. However, he could receive a $1M signing bonus from ISU to cover it.

Think about the shock to the players - going from Fred's ultimate freedom offense to Eustachy's restrictive system at the totally opposite end of the spectrum

Stupid thread. Fred Hoiberg is smart. He is paid a boat load of money. He has a program on the rise. Fred knows that an NBA job is grueling on family life. And the longevity is not even close to what he has at ISU. Fred Hoiberg is raising his family in a great environment with both sets of grandparents just minutes away from his family.

So the answer is that Pollard really does not need a list for a replacement. Fred Hoiberg is the Iowa State Men's Basketball Coach for a long time. After Fred creates a dynasty of several consecutive National Championships then I would start to worry. But certainly not now.

Stupid thread? That is a little harsh. What if Fred Hoiberg one day in the foreseeable future is NOT the head coach at Iowa State? Can't help but to think of possible replacements. It is not a knock on Hoiberg. He will go down as Iowa State's best coach..

Every time I see this thread, I'm reminded of that episode of Friends where they come up with their list of 5 people. People the other is allowed to sleep with given the chance.

And how would we know who JP fancies himself with? :jimlad:

Floyd.

Steers the ship for 2-3 years until Fred fails in the NBA and wants to come back to Ames. Not a devastating drop off its like KSU going from that meathead whose name I can't think of to Weber. If you get a young guy you can't boot him to bring Fred back. Floyd is old enough that he'd take a job in the AD a few years on if you can reacquire Hoiberg.

Hoiberg is probably the best basketball coach in America. Hes the one guy who can coach circles around the big names. He doesn't rely on his strengths as a CEO/recruiter. Everyone's shooting improves big time when they play for him. Hes going to the NBA at some point you just gotta hope its a short stay like Pitino to the Knicks and that you can can his replacement and hire him back the minute he gets fired by an NBA team.

Anywhere from 1-5 years he probably leaves after he gets his Cyclones to the final four if its the right NBA job.

He'll probably win the National Championship or lose in the final game one of the next 2 seasons and then leave. This team is as good as any and hes the best coach out there. I don't think he'll be in Ames long but I think it will because he makes the final four and has a good NBA offer.

Why do you assume that he would fail in the NBA? I think Hoiberg is the kind of person that succeeds at everything. I think he could take a team to the NBA playoffs at the very least.

When Flip decides to hang it up in minnesota, that's when fred leaves. Flip said fred wasn't ready, he will be IF he decides to leave. There's some serious talent (on paper) in Minnesota right now.
