I love a good 'Hoiberg leaving' panic. I spent much of last year with a low level fear of him leaving after last year. For whatever reason, I feel better about him staying.

That being said, Pollard's first move would be to beg, bribe, or blackmail Hoiberg to stay.

The only two names that would even begin to excite me would be Hornacek (he likely wouldn't come, but he's on the record saying that he thought he'd end up in college rather the NBA, so it would be worth asking) and Shaka Smart. Both wouldn't likely come and would be long shots.

After that, it really wouldn't matter. The rest of the choices would be depressing no matter how impressive they were. I would think that the job would be appealing, but I'm not sure what person would like to follow Fred Hoiberg.

If you're going to post a thread like this and get people riled up (and rightfully so), be prepared to have some backlash and not get defensive about it.

Every AD has a list of coaches to contact in every sport in case their coach leaves for whatever reason. Who do you think is on Pollard's list or who would you like to see? My list:

'A' List
Brad Stevens
Gregg Marshall
Shaka Smart
Mark Few
Jacque Vaughn

I'm a little thrown as well by the Jacque Vaughn A list reference but obviously, by the other names on the list we might as well have these guys on there too cause it's just about as likely as the others:

Phil Jackson
Larry Brown
Gregg Popavich

Georges Niang

Someday, when Fred is ready to hang them up/be AD for awhile before retiring.

I don't understand why some posters whine about this topic. To me, it's interesting to think about because it's a reflection on how far the program has been elevated under Fred. The first call would be to Hornacek. It's a huge long shot but consider he's making less than Hoiberg right now. TJ Otz would take the job but would be considered a risky hire but his recruiting ability might me worth the risk. Bobby Lutz would also be considered.

Bobby Lutz is almost 60, he would not be considered at all.

All the zombie coaches but no Zombie Orr? (Too soon?)

I'd like to see Niang. If his pro career doesn't work out (and let's face it, there's a shot it won't with his lack of size for position and how the NBA almost exclusively looks at that garbage) then I think, with the right grooming from Fred, he could make an excellent coach.

Checked to see if this was in the football forum, scratched my head. Turned 180 degrees walked away.

Not all of these are basketball coaches, but given their coaching abilities in their respective sports, I think they deserve a look.

1. The Iceland coach from Might Ducks 2. He's ruthless and will win at any cost

2. Whoopi Goldberg from the move Eddie. She coached the freaking Knicks!

3. The kid from Little Big League. Everyone is looking for the next young coach, I think he could be it

'A' List
Brad Stevens

'B' List
Chris Mack--Xavier
Tad Boyle--Colorado
Tim Miles--Nebraska
Jerod Haase--UAB
Archie Miller--Dayton

My top choice, though, would Jeff Hornacek.

No doubt we would have top names contacting us, possibly some surprises. So much going on here now. Would definitely be attractive to big names. Just have to pick the best of the best. I have faith that Jamie would be up to the task.

I don't care, because Hoiberg isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Read the words that came out of Golden State's GM's mouth (even though Randy Peterson tried to make it sound like Hoiberg is wanting to leave ISU).

Relax
