Is this for real?
How many other 7'1", 260 pound big men are there in college basketball? Woodbury's value lies in the fact that he is tall and relatively strong. Is there something you would like to disagree with?

I think what he meant to say is he is horrible on both offense and defense but he sure is big and unathletic.

Stylistically Basabe and McKay were very similar (garbage men relying on length/athleticism). They also have nearly identical stats. Even Basabe's freshman year is very similar to McKay this year, and Basabe played about 25 minutes per game that year (not far off McKay's minutes from last year).
The Uthoff to Burton comparison is garbage because they are not similar players and Burton has never played significant minutes.
What do last season's accomplishments have to do with this season? McKay has regressed significantly on the defensive end this year. Even then, the only reason McKay won it last year is because he blocked a lot of shots. He has never been a great individual defender.[/QUOTE
Yeah you are right Nerlens Noel was an awful defender all the dude did was blocked shots! That Mutombo character too was poor on D all he did was defend the rim and block shots.
Except McKay isn't blocking shots at a prolific rate anymore. If Mutombo or Noel stopped blocking shots, they would lose a lot of their value too.
You were comparing Basabe his senior year who was averaging half as many pts, rebounds and minutes as McKay but that's a great comparison. I compare Burton who averages half as many minutes, rebounds and pts as Uthoff but that's garbage?

There's no comparison between Niang's supporting cast and Uthoff's. Jok = Thomas and that's about it. Advantage ISU across the board. Saying Niang is better than Uthoff is like saying Emmitt Smith was better than Barry Sanders.
He has no skill or value what so ever. Anything you would like to disagree with? Being tall doesnt make you a good basketball player. You dumb.
You're right, I should have compared McKay to freshman year Basabe. The stats are still nearly identical.
In all reality, it doesn't matter what year of Basabe I am comparing him to. Both players are similar stylistically, and both players put up similar numbers when playing major minutes. The eye test would tell you the players were similar, and the statistics back that up.
Uthoff and Burton is a terrible comparison because they are not similar stylistically and Burton has never played significant minutes.
This really isn't that hard to figure out.

Uthoff had 18 points in the 2nd half tonight vs Rutgers
Uthoff's problem vs ISU mainly was the inability of Iowa's PGs to run a cohesive offense and get him the ball. He's likely more skilled offensively than Niang and has better shot blocking ability due to his length. Two completely different players though, so I'm not sure why we're trying to compare the two. I honestly don't think Niang is ISU's most valuable player this season anyways.
What do you mean EVEN Basabes freshman year? That was his only good year. He looked explosive and was full of potential, though putting up stats on bad teams can be deceiving. So I would agree that as a FR he looked poised to be a McKay type player and potentially much more, it just didn't happen. I tend to think he benefitted as a FR from playing on a bad team with no expectations or meaningful games. He essentially topped out as a space eater with a few decent games as a SR when the team was decent and the games mattered. Does McKay benefit in terms of FG% playing with the likes of Morris and Niang? Certainly, but his touches are very limited with their presence too. Comparing Basabe and McKay in a serious manner is idiotic.
You forgot YOU would play them 'any time'. YOU must be really really good, unless YOU some how speak for the team.
I like reading the analysis on here of the head to head game. Niang had 16 points in that game, Uthoff had 32. But since Niang got most of his points in the 2nd half, its better. I will take a 32 point "disappearing act" over a "clutch" 16 points any day.
