This young man seems pretty driven and the fact that he really wants to be a Cyclone is a huge plus in my book. Have to say I feel better already.
Yeah, he is damn near begging to come here. That alone is worth bonus points in my book. This young man seems pretty driven and the fact that he really wants to be a Cyclone is a huge plus in my book. Have to say I feel better already.
He's actually one of the best remaining big men grad transfers

As many of you know, Beverly has played in Hilton before. 14 points and 8 rebounds in 31 minutes of action. 3-5 from 3. Here's a photo.

This guy seems like a real wild card. At this point however I don't see a problem with it.
I think I would call that being fouled rather than being guarded. I think a big concern with Beverly is that he can hang on the offensive end, but doesn't have the size or athleticism to be good at defense at this level.
Even if he's not good defensively I think he'd be a great bench scoring type. He gets buckets.
I think he's Bowie with the possible upside of Hogue. He has some skill and he had a huge usage rate but a very low turnover rate, especially when you consider his position. I've been beating this drum but Bowie fits next year's roster so much better than this years and he's probably a starter at this point (Bowie). What we don't know about is Beverley's motor. If he has it like Hogue and Bowie, he'll be a real asset in playing 15-20 minutes. If he doesn't he's going to be tough to find minutes for. For him, if he comes here, it will likely come down to him being able to defend the 4 better than the other posts which I think he can do, as well as providing as much on offense as one of the numerous wing/guard options. Personally, I think the 3 freshmen are playing big time minutes by mid season and it comes down to how he stacks up against Kasongo and Lard. Young will give you the option of going to two posts as he can operate offensively outside but I don't know if he can guard it.
He's probably better prepared to guard posts than Burton was, as he pretty much had to learn that on the fly. And really, we have the luxury this year of having enough men at the 5 that he'll only really be required to guard the 4 unless there are a lot of switches.
Could we just get Brown and Marrow and bank the last open a holly? Unless we can get Brooks
I don't hate Beverly as an option if we get him, just wish he shot better from outside
I'm not worried about guarding the post. I'm worried about guarding a 4 that can shoot and penetrate. I don't really want Babb or Lewis forced to do that.
