This guy seems like a real wild card. At this point however I don't see a problem with it.

As many of you know, Beverly has played in Hilton before. 14 points and 8 rebounds in 31 minutes of action. 3-5 from 3. Here's a photo.

That was in 2013 so I'd expect his game has improved since then. If Prohm still wants him after checking him during his visit, I'm content with that.

I think I would call that being fouled rather than being guarded. I think a big concern with Beverly is that he can hang on the offensive end, but doesn't have the size or athleticism to be good at defense at this level.

Even if he's not good defensively I think he'd be a great bench scoring type. He gets buckets.

I think he's Bowie with the possible upside of Hogue. He has some skill and he had a huge usage rate but a very low turnover rate, especially when you consider his position. I've been beating this drum but Bowie fits next year's roster so much better than this years and he's probably a starter at this point (Bowie). What we don't know about is Beverley's motor. If he has it like Hogue and Bowie, he'll be a real asset in playing 15-20 minutes. If he doesn't he's going to be tough to find minutes for. For him, if he comes here, it will likely come down to him being able to defend the 4 better than the other posts which I think he can do, as well as providing as much on offense as one of the numerous wing/guard options. Personally, I think the 3 freshmen are playing big time minutes by mid season and it comes down to how he stacks up against Kasongo and Lard. Young will give you the option of going to two posts as he can operate offensively outside but I don't know if he can guard it.

He gets to the line a ton and shoots it okay from there. Wigginton will probably do that but I don't know that anyone else will.

He's probably better prepared to guard posts than Burton was, as he pretty much had to learn that on the fly. And really, we have the luxury this year of having enough men at the 5 that he'll only really be required to guard the 4 unless there are a lot of switches.

I think with Juiston now off the board, Beverly is a very serviceable piece for this team next year. Putting up 16 and 6 isn't easy in basketball, yes scoring came easier in that conference but he had very solid scoring games against decent level opponents. He averaged 20 and 10 and ~24 and ~12 as a senior in high school. Not sure why he chose to go the football route, maybe just didn't have much recruiting buzz out of HS for bball. But, I have to feel his background in football means his rebounding won't dip much from his stats last year. From his highlights he doesn't seem to jump like Burton but he isn't a niang, either, so he has to use his body to grab boards and that will translate to this level I believe. If he can give us even half the scoring output and around the same amount of rebounds, he will be a very solid get for next years squad of young athletes.

I'm not worried about guarding the post. I'm worried about guarding a 4 that can shoot and penetrate. I don't really want Babb or Lewis forced to do that.

Could we just get Brown and Marrow and bank the last open a holly? Unless we can get Brooks
I don't hate Beverly as an option if we get him, just wish he shot better from outside

I'd be thrilled with Brown, Morrow and Beverly. Brooks is off the board. With the huge amount of changeover this year, I'd rather fill them all in case someone doesn't pan out, as this year is a big one for continuation. Not critical, but big. I certainly wouldn't take someone just to be taking them, but Beverly is more than that.

A lot of us were hoping Lard would be available at mid season this year to do that very thing. Lard and Young should be able to contain stretch 4's.

Why bank one when you can get a guy like Beverly who can help for one year?

You still get the scholarship to use in the 2018 class.

The mid-year thing is very hit or miss.
