Not exactly sure.
Iowa didn't back off. They were still putting the full court press on him up until his commitment. Then Barnes threw a fit on Twitter and all of a sudden the "Deyo Grades" rumors started coming out. Occam's Razor says this is all connected.
Even more important, why did Iowa bad mouth his grades which now we know weren’t as issue. Any decent coach wouldn’t mention grades and just keep their mouth shut in order to not tear a 17-18 year old kid down.

That's what the Iowa staff does to kids they don't get. They will never admit another team just flat out beat them out for a recruit. They'll say the offer was no longer committable, or it was grades, you name it.

Current players lol! You mean the group of people with the maximum possible incentive to keep quiet/lie about witnessing wrongdoing?
They have the second fewest transfers in D1 football since last Summer. Tracy had commented about how things were much better but wanted to see how things were 5 or 10 years from now. He transferred under good terms and even came back for the Spring game. He certainly could have or any of the transfers for that matter could speak up if they wanted to. Or the recent graduates for that matter.

All that said, I do think Kirk is making a mistake at not continuing the committee in some fashion. If it was too much time, figure out a way to scale it back but it should still be a forum for feedback from the current players.

Tracy is right in that you really can’t look at what’s happening right now as proof things are fixed. Like anything, change takes time and cannot happen over night. These incidents happened over a long period of time, multiple recruiting classes.

In 5-10 years we’ll get a good look at how things have progressed albeit there will likely be a new coach at the helm. Hopefully it’s not Brian but I have a feeling it will be. That’d be a horrible look for Iowa all things considered but Iowa isn’t exactly a school that handles these sorts of things well (due to Barta).

You all have no proof the staff said any of that. Just going off a hunch

The purpose of the whole committee in the first place was to improve on relationships within the program. That has seemingly been a good thing so why continue it? If things implemented worked keep using them. You all are making this non issue front page material when there is no story lol.

The official purpose was to investigate why there were allegations of racist culture and repair relationships within. Whether that happened is debatable, because the unofficial purpose for it was for Kirk to say he did something about it. But we all know he’s only there to chew bubblegum and continue doing racist **** while he racks up wins in the weakest division in college football, and he’s all out of bubblegum.

Might be an even bigger story if the Gazette actually covered it.

Those writers are so stoked for 6 weeks from now when they can start having features about Iowa's back ups.

That's all fine and dandy, but it would still be naive to think Tracy would be encouraged or rewarded to speak out as long as he wants to continue playing football at a high level or after school.

For example, pro football is notoriously risk averse with roster decisions regarding players who speak out on anything. It is very much a "nail who sticks out gets the hammer" mentality, even more so than say basketball or baseball.

From excessive display of Christian faith, racial criticism, homosexuality, etc. it's all been subject to being considered a deciding negative factor for fringe talent at some point. Pro football has been consistently against having "distractions" in the locker room.

I shouldn't have to tell you Hoks this, but I'm happy to do it.
