Last line of that piece:

For now, the metrics still love this team, as the Her Hoop Stats ratings and the Massey Ratings each have them in the top ten. Given how dangerous they’ve looked in all but one week this season, it’s hard to view the Cyclones as anything but contenders.

And from the piece about the Bevoettes:

So why are they pretenders? Their three-game losing streak and .500 record in conference play raise some small red flags, but ultimately it comes down to how they score the ball. Much of the Longhorns’ offense comes from their ability to generate turnovers and get out and run. In the halfcourt, they rely on getting the ball on the rim and crashing the glass. When Texas goes up against teams who take care of the ball and have enough frontcourt size to keep them off the offensive boards, they run into trouble.

Texas also heavily eschews the 3-point line, ranking 326th in 3-point attempt rate. It’s another reason lengthy teams give them trouble — with so much of their scoring coming in the paint, good rim protectors can have a greater impact. Kansas’ Taiyanna Jackson and Tennessee’s Alexus Dye each had four blocks in wins over Texas, and Dye’s teammate, Tamari Key, racked up an incredible 10 blocks.

Teams like Texas have been ISU's kyptonite, as we don't match their size.. Will be interested to see what CBF does to counter. They had 22 fouls to our 11 last time, and turned us over 15 times compared to their 10. Em had 7 of those TOs, but made 12 of 14 FT's. They obviously dogged her the whole game. Bottom line though, we have to hit more than 28% from the field. I did not watch that game, but it appears they simply intimidated us w/o Ashley.

Think UT plays two bigs a lot (EBO / GASTON) - wonder if they will be able to do that and match up with us on the perimeter. Ash rebounds well for her position so may be a big plus from the first time we played.

Lexi's defense on Robertson has been outstanding. She's barely allowing her to even touch the ball.
Gals playing great. Up by 26 end of three, against the 15th ranked team. Peaking at the right time?

Just hammer it home in the 4th as well. Leave a big statement here. Happy for gals for the bounce back in play after that Texas game.

Jordao had some seriously physical and Chelsea Poppens type of plays down the stretch. Two massive boards that looked like when a super athletic dude just rips down a rebound. Major props to her.

Crowd was alot of fun, but the product on the floor was even better! Disappointed in the no game thread, but it seems like we were all at the game!! Glad to wash the bad taste outta our mouths after Texass, on to Kansas Big 12 title still right out in front of us!

The skill and brains of this team is off the charts. Not big, not strong, not fast, but they know where to be and where everyone else is going to be. Almost one step ahead of everyone else. The only trouble is teams like Baylor and Texas who have talented bigs.

Wish we could bottle this game up and save it for the NCAA's.

Great crowd and great game. Best and biggest crowd of the yr I'm pretty sure.
