You see him as a "turned recruited walk on from Ames". I don't look at the fact that he once was a recruited walk on or the fact that he is from Ames. I look at the fact that Hoiberg says that he is a calming factor on the floor. I look at the fact that he can run an offense better than Will can.
I've followed this thread with interest. I am not down on Bubu but like others, I'm not sold on him either. You can't compare his performance last year with Lucious this year, because we are a totally different team. We are more balanced...and we have a true point guard this year that we lacked last year.
Fred does an amazing job of using his talent to the best advantage..I am sure that Bubu will get minutes, but not sure how many. It is always nice to have someone in reserve due to injuries, etc.
But to say that Bubu can run an offense better than Will can would be the same as saying he should have been our starting PG all last season. My memory's not so good anymore, but I don't recall that being the case.......
Finally, we are much, much more of a up tempo team this year...we were moving that way last year...and that is not Bubu's game - at all.
Bubu is a role player, and we may need that, once he is back in game shape...time will tell what that role will be.
