There is nothing worse than the Delta Dental Smile Cam this year. Nothing.

The Pump Up the Pasta last year was bad, and so was the other knock off of it (Can't remember it right now...Planet Sub maybe?)

Here is a novel thought-- let the pep band play music during the break.

Uh, I know for an absolute fact most of the CA members are there long before any of us are, and I'm always there before the doors open.

And don't kid yourself. People get excited for football games because they can drink all day beforehand.
So... do they pee for an hour before the game starts or what?

Football has fringe fans. Know why? Tailgating. You're naive if you don't recognize this.

And yeah, I know they walked by, and guess who is doing things behind the scenes before games? Think the Alley Rally crap does itself? How about the props? Handing out shirts? Handling sign ups?

So one person on here seems to love CA, so we all should? These CAC kids spend all their time organizing these stupid things for students to do before the game, during timeouts, etc. All I'm saying is put students who care the most about Cyclone Basketball up front and get rid of the borderline, or "fringe", fans that make up the CAC and get those kids out.

I guarantee tailgating isn't the only reason football can bring out 55,000 people and basketball can't get 5,000 people.

I'm not saying you all should. But guess what, they aren't taking up the first 10 rows. Please, tell me the huge difference between the first and second rows? Please. I'm waiting to hear it. Let me break this to you: As someone who has been in the front 8 rows of every game (break and normal games) since 2007-2008, I can count on my fingers and toes how many "huge" fans we have.

The first thing you do frankly if you want to get rid of the fringe fans up front....tell students no saving seats. If you want to sit down there, you get there before the doors open. Too damn bad for your friends (and I'm as guilty as any for saving seats).

And football does have more fans than basketball in general, but football is an all day event. It gets more students because its a reason to go get hammered. It brings out adults because they can all get together and tailgate with their families. People sure as hell don't go to football games for cheaper tickets. They go because they can drink all day and watch football.

Did you read the email? I said the way the shirts were handed out screwed us and thats why we were in about the tenth row, and that included the CAC. Read what I said before you try to rip on what I say.

One last thing before I'm done on this thread:

The whole game atmosphere is messed up. CA sucks, the pep band plays the same stuff over and over, we do the "Let's Go State" thing for 5 straight minutes before the game, the stuff CA gets for students to do during timeouts is dumb, the giveaway stuff for CA members is garbage. Most of this is the reason I haven't gotten my tickets yet this year, and I'm still only considering buying them.

Uh, oh, now you have don
e it...
Paging pep bad alumni....

If you insist...
The bball pep bands have a gig book of 100 or so songs. The reason the selection is so limited? Because marching band is practicing every day, there isn't time for a pep band rehearsal. So they put together a song or two and survive until spring when they can rehearse regularly. If you notice, throughout the season they'll add more and more songs.

I have been to all 3 games and I know attendance is terrible, but I keep thinking, how bad would it be if GMAC were still the coach?

Shouldn't it be easier to make it on the weekend, though? When I was a student, the toughest games to make were Wednesday night ones.

So how did you go from an "AlleyAddict" when you signed up here in January to kicking the habit less than 9 months?

Sunday is a pain because its Thanksgiving Week and everything is due this week. Professors think they need that one last exam before Finals! :skeptical:

This would be a direct result of the basketball team sucking and everyone knowing we're going to be Iowa-bad this year.

Keep in mind...I'm a senior at Iowa State right now and I was born in 1989. Hoiberg has NO pull with most college students.

Maybe what you say is correct, especially about your generation, but if Fred hoiberg has no pull, then who or what would have pull with you and your friends?

Secondly, although this year I don't think we'll win more than 15 games, we are better than last year already. And with what Fred has in the stables (inelgible practice team) next year is shaping up to be something . You will look back and be ****** off at yourself if you don't get involved. Enjoy your college career.

One thing here, IcSyU is about the last student that needs to be told about being involved. Guy has been at nearly every game for the previous three years. This might just be the first time I've heard him say he couldn't make it.

Man has even been there over Christmas break. He's involved.

And he can feel free to send cash or food for this post.

I'm a season ticket holder and will be until the day I die.

However, adults can identify with Fred. Today's college students are too young to remember Fred hitting jump shots at Hilton. We don't have the same attachment older folks (yeah, just went there :wideeyed:) do. There aren't very many die hard Cyclone fans. A lot of students here that I talk to at games had no idea about Iowa State athletics before they got here. The way to pull people in is win basketball games. Kansas State is a great example.
