Exactly... and especially when they do it against Nebraska. I have no problem buying a Gold shirt, but I'd rather them do it on a night when we play Texas, or some other team that shares no color with us, so it doesn't look like some pathetic attempt to wear a different color than the other team.

IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH KANSAS. They will be wearing WHITE jerseys and all of their fans wear BLUE t-shirts. It has everything to do with attempting to have the crowd in all Gold on national television. But since so many of you are whining at an attempt to look good on tv, then wear your cardinal or grey or white or whatever colored logo apparel you have.

It does look bad ***. Those are 2 great pics, and how cool things look when everyone participates. Can you imagine if ISU tried to do the alternate sections? Total meltdown.

Exactly. Try and do anything special that requires just an ounce of extra effort and half the Cyclone Nation freaks out and refuses to participate. I hate to say it but when it comes to flat out passion and participation for their team the U of I fans get the job done far better then ISU fans. It is quite pathetic actually.

I hate Golden Rules also.
I always where the red, for the games, except the Golden Rules day.

They often had Golden Rules when Nebraska came to town,
so I felt like they we were changing our ways for Nebraska.

My opinion is that I hate it.

i bet the OP would be pumped if the basketball team came out with GOLD jerseys. but then again he was pry also on the concourse for the double overtime game against Houston last year, wanted to leave early to bet the traffic. so let him be the ****** bag with the cardinal shirt on in a sea of gold.

I love it. People who disagree cant argue the logic of the posters in this thread, they just go after the posters. Its a message board, idiots, its meant for sharing opinions.

That's because you aren't using logic, you're being a moron. We have two colors, Larson. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Athletics Dept. promoting one of the school colors.

By the way, Gold has been a school color since the beginning. Cardinal came later.

Amazing how some people will find something to complain about in any situation. Just put on a gold shirt and shut up.

Do I need to leave work now to buy a gold shirt? I have none, and this is the first I have heard of this promotion. We want to bow down to Iowa's ability to color coordinate... hell even I heard about that promotion months in advance.

EDIT: If enough people were passionate about making the gold out a reality it would happen. As it is now, it is a half *** attempt to replicate what others have done.

Please - when was the last time ISU fans were able to pull off the "Cardinal Rules" properly? The incessant whining then usually becomes "Why the hell should I have to wear red to the game? They're not the boss of me! I'm going to wear white, gray, or, ironically, gold instead!"

I sometimes shake my head in wonder with this fan base. I can somewhat understand not wanting to wear gold for a Golden Rules game at JTS in the middle of November when it's 20 degrees out because there aren't a lot of quality gold ISU winter coats or heavy sweatshirts out there and they don't want to freeze their arses off in a gold t-shirt, but people are still going to whine about it when it's in Hilton Coliseum on a night when Johnny Orr is being honored and it's a nationally-televised game against one of our most hated rivals and there are plenty of cheap gold t-shirts that can be bought at your choice of stores in either Ames or Des Moines - and all some fans can do is ***** about how they're not going to do it because they don't like being told what to do and being the ***hole rebel stokes their self-importance?

I seriously don't get our fan base sometimes...

:notworthy::notworthy: very well said.

Just got this message sent to me

Than I got a message that Christopherson and JVB hate the Gold jerseys and are refusing to wear them so they are wearing the cardinal jerseys. It's going to be really confusing watching the game

So true. All the personal, primitive shots from "courageous" posters from behind their keyboards...

I would think you would find five minutes to find a 10 dollar gold shirt, but im sure you will use this an excuse not to wear one

Is or is not the color that 90% of fans wear, that the university sells, and that all university materials come in, the primary color of the university? That is cardinal for all of the above. Primary color in the fanbase, primary color in the marketplace, primary color on every single piece of correspondence ive gotten from the university.

I'm sure they have some you can choose from in the little shop in Hilton for your convenience.

Doubly confusing because I just got a text from my made-up source that says that KU is going to wear their red unis tonight...

There are actually only 2 or 3 people in this entire thread that said they won't wear gold. Not a huge deal. Obviously KU fans won't be wearing gold, so whats another handful of people?

Some people will simply forget or will not be informed. Not a huge deal

Some people don't like being told what to do. If they want to wear their cardinal colored shirt and their new wallet chain, respect it even if you don't agree with it. They have that right and are still Cyclone fans.
