The most interesting thing in that article, to me anyway, was the statement that the last game of the year against Kansas will be the 19th 50K+ attendance game in a row. Bold prediction, unless the numbers for "currently sold" are close enough to support it, IMHO. Where's the ticket thermometer???

"56,800 seats" should be "56,800 people allowed in before the fire marshal gets mad."

Got to do it for the 100th time.....

True capacity is not 56,500.
We have like 42K permanent seats and 4K temp bleachers.
The hills get us around 10K..
So really our capacity is 46K. So we are 4k+ average over capacity right now.

We could use this philosophy at Hilton to get 15,000 people instead of 14,000. There is plenty of standing room around. Sell them GA tickets and just find a placed to stand.

I'll take Building codes for $1000, Alex.

Just pay premium seats up in the rafters. There are a couple chairs scattered around up there. Who wouldnt want to watch a bird's eye view of the game while sitting on soundproofing foam and 2x4 beams.

No kidding.... you get my point though.

But there will be a point where they can't legally put people in that stadium.
I had to move my basement stair railing up 1 inch because of code. I have to imagine Jack trice is rated for something. They just can't wing the number to the city if I had to move my basement hand rail up an inch.

JT fire/emergency code rated for 60K? If they provide more gates does that help? I am not fire marshall Bill so I don't know...

Dumb Post.

The "Garden" by an ISU alum and major donor
was planned 10 years ago as THE entrance to the SEZ.

Dumber post. The article says that Riemen takes PRIORITY over the SEZ. Riemen already exists. What more needs to be done to Riemen that keeps the SEZ from being undertaken? While my post was somewhat of a joke the article doesn't address this. Is there a multi-million dollar expansion planned for the Garden? Is it chewing up resources of some sort? I don't see how it has "priority" or directly affects SEZ.

The article says that Riemen takes PRIORITY over the SEZ.

Except it doesn't say that at all. Peterson says Reiman Gardens is "a priority", not THE priority, nor is it called a priority over the south end zone. There are no direct quotes to indicate any hierarchy.

Had similar thoughts... didn't want to bring it up for fear of the tree faction of CF causing a ruckus

Well, let me be the one to remind you. The Reimen family stepped up when asked by the University/ISU Foundation and donated millions to develop that area as a gateway to the University. IMHO, That is why it needs to be protected...it isn't just a garden. There is still plenty of area within reasonable distance for parking...and the gardens with a finished SEZ will look much better than a finished SEZ with a parking lot.

I agree. No problem with the gardens. It's a great entry to the university and it's not hurting JTS at all. Doesn't take up all that much parking area. The KEY is to take what is done with RG and what has been done with JTS so far and build a SEZ that makes for a transition between the two. I'm talking a big plaza and possible water feature. Then an impressive looking structure that people see right when they turn the corner.

I believe that point is 56,800. That's not a random number, JP won't sell over that.

How did you get 46K out of the numbers you posted?
