The only time I remember them cancelling, it was a because a combination of ice and extreme cold kept Cyride from running.

I remember a half day (an afternoon) in 07 before the 'storm' really even hit, and then the worst of the storm missed ISU so the next day, a friday, the school was open.

Didnt stop the mass clearing out of the hy-vee liquor aisle though.

I remember the '07 "snow day." I had already had all my classes, including physics lab, when the canceled the afternoon classes. Then nothing happened.

I attend UW-Madison for grad school now, and we are going to get 15". Yuck!

It appears the national weather service also agrees with the trend toward less snow. They have down-graded us from 8-11 inches to only 5-7 inches now.

We had a snow day back in 1998 when I was at Iowa State. That was one of my more memorable weekends at Iowa State. For some reason my friends and I watched movies starting on Friday night and all day Saturday and Sunday. I don't think we left the dorm all weekend. And then on Monday, classes were cancelled and we then proceeded to continue to watch movies all day Monday. By the time Monday night rolled around we were all punch drunk and stir crazy :)

I don't know that downgraded snow is going to matter a whole lot if the winds are as bad as they say. It'll be white out conditions if we get 7 inches and 40 mph winds.

I think at this point one needs to expect the worst and hope for the best.

The worst and the best being all relative, of course.
