I feel like the only thing that would register on a National scale is Larry. The other things in this thread are big in our minds only.

Jason Berryman mugging my friend for $4 and his cell phone was pretty embarrassing.
lol... this was a good one back in my day. I forget the name of the guy who used to write and draw the occasional cartoon for the daily, but the pretty obvious drawing of Berryman shooting himself in the foot was priceless.

Not a big incident, but I thought it was funny, Fall 1993 or 1994. Some football players were caught stealing checkbooks from some dorm rooms on campus.

The scoreboard in the south end zone had the old Norwest logo (dark navy and dark green) on a black background. You couldn’t see the Norwest logo, but you could easily read their slogan, “The Home of Free Checking”. So the scoreboard appeared to read, “Cyclone Stadium The Home of Free Checking”

Thought that was funny at the time.

Bowing to Missouri's request not to play an African American in 1910, was one of the most embarrassing moments in Hawkeye history.

The exact same thing was going to happen with Jack Trice, had he not died the week of the game at Mizzou.

Late to the party - there are some good ones named in the first couple of pages...did anyone mention Randy Brown? Really, really creepy.

Is there evidence that the Iowa State coach would have played without Trice? And it shows Iowa State won 2-0. Did Mizzou forfeit? Also, why does Missouri still name it's field house after the Chester Brewer who wrote the letter telling Iowa State Trice wasn't allowed even on the field?

The guy is absolutely off his rocker, and anyone denying that only exposes themselves.
I struggle with calling the Royce circus a skeleton in ISU's closet though. All of the big public crazy has been after he left Ames. He was in and out of here in a year, and that was quite a few years back now. Basically, outside of ISU fans most people probably don't recall him playing here, even if they are CBB fans.

A skeleton needs the embarrassing incident to have a strong connection to the school. Either happening while the person is here, or happening to a really recognizable ISU person like ISU Rushmore level. He doesn't really connect on that like Larry's drinking at work, Sam robbing the Ames BK, or getting busted for kiddie porn on your school issued computer.

Could I name a one year player at another midwest school like Minnesota that played a decade ago and had basically no NBA career? Nope. So those people can't embarrass the school at this point, just themselves.

Royce having to be babysat and coddled his time at Iowa State was rather embarrassing.

I agree on this front.

I don't think most examples in this thread are true "skeletons" in general.
