No confidence at all. We're lucky it isn't already three in a row, as SJ had to pull a lucky horseshoe out of his *** just to beat UNI back in 2011. Everyone remembers the fourth quarter of that 20-19 game, I hope?
I would say less than 50% chance of winning. Probably 40-45%....at home....against an FCS school.
Ugh.
Is zero confidence the lowest I can go? Where are people getting this level of confidence from?
We'll lose by 10-14.
I honestly think this is the year we go winless. I wouldn't expect much for changes at the end of it either. If Pollard didn't fire Rhoads after last year, he's never going to.
I'm just expecting a loss at this point. I've just settled back into mid to late 90s mode as far as football goes. I still love the Cyclones, will watch and cheer for them, but I'm definitely not expecting anything other than losses from them. Plus, I think Iowa is tired of losing to us and finally comes out with this game circled on their calendar and spanks us as well. Unless things have changed drastically from last year, not sure where we pick up a win this season.
No David Johnson raises my confidence level. So I'm at about 39% confident that we will win this game.
I hope you all feel like complete morons, but I'm sure you think ISU just got lucky...
I was confident we'd beat UNI last time. It was Paul Rhoads 4th or 5th season, he had his own recruits in the pipeline and his handpicked coaches "coaching them up". Turns out I vastly overestimated the quality of work that had been done over the first 4+ years.
I think it might be a good game, which is sad. If it's a blowout, we'll be on the wrong end of it.
10/90, with what we have returning, inexperience on D, Farley is a great coach who will have his team ready to play. Sad to say, but that is where ISU football is right now
I would say about 40%. Definitely on the lower side of half.
Chances are pretty good. From what I gather they lose a lot of key players. That, and the desperation in the program after losing the previous FBS games, I'll say 75% chance of winning.
My confidence in winning? 0
Low, which is the same as my confidence level in beating anyone else next year too.
0%
This is a 1-11 team. I agree with the earlier poster who said that he's in 90's ISU football mode.
I think the fact that this thread even exists is telling. I'd also differentiate between odds and confidence. I would say the odds of us winning this game are around 40%. I would say my confidence level in this team winning this game is 0%.
I would have to say right about 20% or so. IF we do lose to UNI, CPR needs to be fired on the spot.
40%. In other words, gun to my head I'm taking UNI but we have a reasonable shot with David Johnson gone as well as it being the most pressure-packed game of Paul Rhoads' life.
I'd go 60/40 UNI in this one. Something like UNI 20 ISU 14.
10% . They'll dominate us on the LOS like always.
Well I was going to put down $1000 that we lose to a D-2 team, at home, but since you're not a high roller I guess I'll keep my bet to myself. I hear Upper Iowa has a decent team this year too... would have been a good game to bet on.
As far as FCS UNI... 100% loss and I'll gladly accept that I am wrong, but I won't be.
I was maybe 40% confident the last two years because those teams were both good and we were still getting **** figured out but both years everyone seemed super confident on here. This year everyone gives us no chance and I am 90-95% confident. In fact, I think we p!ss pound them. One, we will be a better and more experienced team.
Two, this will be the first time we aren't rolling out a brand new new offense for the first game for the first time in a few years. Three, UNI will be a much less talented team next year. They are losing a legit NFL running back and starting QB (yeah yeah how did that go for ND State, well UNI isn't ND state they don't have the depth). Add it all up plus a little good old fashion revenge and we win big. That will then be followed by a new over inflated perception of how good this team is because they out performed your distorted expectations once again.
Zilch
I think that ISU has a 25% chance to win and there's a 50% chance that Mangino will be the interim HC in Game 2. This staff has done an absolutely horrible job getting the team ready to play after layoffs...whether it is bowl games or the 1st game of the season. Pretty much all have been disgustingly flat performances. Usually, they come out on fire, then get punched in the mouth and fold like a cheap tent.
Defensively, they're going to depend on JUCOs like Ayeni, Tucker, Jones, Harris, Wiltz, Leath to not only be contributors, but difference makers. That pretty much never happens. Offensively, we've heard so much BS about how good they're going to be for years that it isn't even believable now. The OL hasn't blocked anyone at ISU in 5 years. But we're supposed to believe that this year is different?
Let me see, I'm guessing we'll see UNI's undersized, Iowa boy DL busting through our OL like they were blocks of styrofoam. And then their OL full of guys we passed on will ground our inexperienced DL into the dirt.
I am 100% confident that ISU will not lose to a Division II team this season.
I am 100% confident that ISU will lose to UNI this season. I'll still watch and hope for the best, though.
I'd say that I'm at least 75% confident that UNI wins this one.
Until we prove otherwise, we're just not very good.
It can't be a nut punch if people can see it coming, which we obviously can.
Right now? On a scale of 1 to 10, call it three. Maybe a little more or less confident after the spring scrimmage, but Rhoads and co are going to have to win back the fanbase's confidence. No more blind optimism.
I hope you all feel like complete morons, but I'm sure you think ISU just got lucky...
My answer is 10% confident
Setting the bar EXTREMELY low, we beat Iowa, and thats it.
KU isn't a win anymore, and that's a sad, sad day
I believe I was told last year that NDSU was going to be worse because of who they lost and that they had a new coach. Then they completely embarrassed us on our own field.
So confidence? Zero. Can we? Of course.
Rhoads' incapability in recent years to have the team ready to play for the first game of the season. It takes a learning experience for them to get it together (aka a loss to an FCS team).
Although in my opinion I don't think we beat either Iowa or UNI.
80% that we lose.
ZERO.
If anyone takes this website seriously, it's you. Most people come here for fun or to talk ISU sports. The only thing I have ever seen you do on here is flame and hate.Ya man, you're right...I've been trying to take this whole "internet" thing more seriously, and I think this is the wake up call I've needing. Thank you. Truly thank you.
