*** Official UNI vs #7 IOWA STATE Game(Day) THREAD ***

The O line was nothing like it's preseason press. I'm more skeptical that we've turned that corner after all. Nobody in red overpowered anyone in white. Not that corner, either.

Not at all. But you're trying to find the silver lining. I admire you for that. I just don't have it in my right now.

*** Official UNI vs #7 IOWA STATE Game(Day) THREAD ***

We'll fall to 11-12, just outside the top ten. Iowa will move to one position below us.

This is how people (coaches too, probably) rationalize a game like that.

That was an ugly, exceedlingly boring game.

Expansion candidates that made the cut in 2016

We were having a legitimate conversation about ISU and the future of college athletics till this one. Now you can just **** off.

Expansion candidates that made the cut in 2016

Spare us the hyperbole. Of course it's not "all over." But I submit that you're being ridiculous to think that things will be fine in the one scenario (of several possible) where the remaining 8 Big12 teams restock the league with schools like Boise, Cincy, etc.

Expansion candidates that made the cut in 2016

Just let me ask you, did you think Scott Frost's undefeated South Florida team of several years ago deserved to be in the playoff? That's the ISU future you're describing. Sure, I'm a casual fan. I enjoy watching ISU compete. I enjoy it a helluva lot more when it feels like they're in...

Expansion candidates that made the cut in 2016

Your response is a bit of a red herring. The loss is in no longer being part of a major conference. And the proposed "rejiggered" B12 would not be one. The B12 would be an afterthought to most top level conversations. Boring.

Expansion candidates that made the cut in 2016

Exactly right about free time on Saturdays, it's not like I'm gonna turn to SEC football. There'll be others like me tuning out. This is where the SEC gambit will hurt college ball.

    Kolar Status

This is nothing like last year, where Covid was lurking in the ranks.

Expansion candidates that made the cut in 2016

What you say is all true. Doesn't mean we have to like it, or act like its okay. I'd be decidedly less interested in ISU football if they play a slate of Boise's, Cincinnati's, et. al. This has already happened for me with wrestling, where realignment has handed us such powerhouses as South...

Player you are most excited to see this season

I understand why many hope to see Hall and Brock splitting carries. Selfishly, however, I want to see Hall running wild, a la Troy Davis. He's got the stuff to be the best ISU back ever.

Share awesome (not awesome) customer service experience for Friday entertainment

Ironic, the discussion you're having in this thread is just about as asinine as the one you had with the server in your story. On lighter note, I like your Leland P avatar.

Steveson is the best wrestler in the world right now. Not in his weight class, but pound for pound. He's really something.

    Gomez to Wisconsin

I was prepared to be upset if Gomez tried to blame his concussions on ISU by claiming he was coerced into dropping to 133. But the article doesn't say or even really imply that. So fine, good luck to him. I do hope he'll hang it up if the problem re-emerges. And I hope that Bono, douchy or not...

    Stanford Reinstating Wrestling

Still disagree. I write from a place just as informed as you, but my sense is totally different. Stanford is supporting athletes in a number of D1 varsity sports that is unmatched by anyone else (in this day and age). They have won the director's cup so often they just as well own it. Stanford...

    Transfer Portal in wrestling

Just a guess, but I don't expect any game changing additions (or even instant upgrades) from the portal. We got a couple competitive/depth guys and I'm settled in to seeing how that works out.

    Stanford Reinstating Wrestling

I wholly disagree with the last part. Stanford funds 36 varsity sports. Even with the proposed reduction of 11 (now fully rescinded) they would have been at 25. That's way more than ISU. In spite of this bad press, Stanford is overall the hands down BEST place to coach a "minor" sport.
