I'm just here to say **** Texas and most of their fans. Carry on.
I said it way before all of the back door dealings ESPN did with the SEC but they have had WAY too much skin in the game ever since the 4 team format started. They have played a critical role in getting certain teams bumped up in the rankings because they want the TV numbers. Their little Tuesday night ranking show has been a valuable mouthpiece to get certain teams bumped up. Going to 8 or 12 would correct a lot of this and college football needs the parity. It can't be all about 6 teams every year. Worst case scenario, you starting spreading the money around and that would be a good thing.
I like Steve Buschemi!Great analogy. Oklahoma would be Tom Hanks, solid leading man that everyone respects and will miss when theyre gone. Texas right now is Sharknado era Tara Reid.
Cincinnati would be Liev Shreiber. BYU would be John Goodman, Houston would be Sam Rockwell, UCF would be Peter Storemare. We are Steve Buschemi.
The added money certainly provides advantages, but not as much as you might think. Our athletic department budget is already only a fraction of Texas's budget, and yet we've beat them three years in a row.
The SEC championship game drew 9.0 million viewers, more than triple the B12 championship game. They got their dream matchup in the championship game last year and the ratings were terrible. You really need to wonder how long it will be until they figure out that they've alienated 80% of the country to push their narrative.
So on these Texas forums, they are complaining about the refs, which is ironic. Also, we've won 3 of the last 4 meetings in Ames against the Whorns and in 2013, we should've won, but refs ultimately failed us and we got the infamous Rhoads presser to follow. So yeah, the refs were against Texas....my ass
We'll be in a worse conference, and they're about to lose even more games.
Fair enough for the most part but I think with a national title contender the ACC is probably seen as #3, regardless of those other teams status at least for the media etc.The ACC doesn't need Clemson to win, they need Miami, Florida St, and Va Tech to pull their heads out of their a$$es. Clemson alone doesn't lift the ACC, they need some serious help.
Is Texas going to lose to Kansas this week? That's my big question.

Wasn't aware John C Holmes was known for comedy. I'll need to revisit his catalog of work
He’s not wrong. ISU will absolutely jump ship it offered by the Big Ten or Pac. And they should. You can try to pump this new conference up all you want, but it won’t be 3rd best in the nation. That’s just reality. Reality is also that ISU, at least currently, doesn’t have any better option. The two ideas don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
That will depend on the schedule the SEC has watered down for them?
Yeah sorry, but no with regards to your PAC 12 comment. They missed their chance to expand and now they're completely screwed.
The PAC makes less than any other P5 conference currently, and nothing has changed for them that will move the needle in their favor. And, not to mention, if any marquee programs leave the PAC, they have zero decent options for replacements.
The new Big XII will pay more in TV revenue than the PAC when it's all said and done.
If anything, the Big XII might be poaching some of their current schools in the not so distant future, as might the B1G.
Right. Obviously it will matter huge if schools are allowed to start paying players directly but short of that the money has a diminishing return for football. See Texas the last dozen years. Where the money advantage really shows up, even now, is in all of the other sports. The B1G and SEC schools can afford gaudy facilities, coaching salaries and recruiting budgets in every sport. The added money certainly provides advantages, but not as much as you might think. Our athletic department budget is already only a fraction of Texas's budget, and yet we've beat them three years in a row.
According to the Baylor 365 show on Youtube (good show BTW which covers all the B12) they said that when TCU and Utah moved up to P5 conferences their recruiting profile ranking dramatically improved as a result. From the 60s to the 30s for the most part for those 2 programs. Point being they new Big 12 members have a shot to be very formidable from time to time.
Cincy should really have great recruiting now. They didn't think it would help BYU much, but they generally are ok. Perhaps Houston has some runs like TCU did. Surely won't hurt UCF.
Nobody is going to replace OU, but Texas has been dead weight for 10+ years. In a way I think the Big 12 may be stronger at 12 than it is at 10 now. Will be interesting to see how the conference schedule plays out.
texas complaining about the refs. Yeah, refs have always had it out of them.
Ratings were down across the board, particularly with the Big 12 overlapping with another gameThe SEC championship game drew 9.0 million viewers, more than triple the B12 championship game.
